Well it looks like John McCain will be more aggressive during the debate Tonight, mainly because, as reported by WAPO Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has the upper hand in the race, including states like Ohio. Yes according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll Barack Obama is ready to win the presidency. This places Republican John McCain at a disadvantage in a state considered vital to his chances of winning the White House in November.
As Jon Cohen and Dan Balz of the Washington Post note, "No Republican has ever been elected president without winning Ohio, and the state's 20 electoral votes are of paramount importance to McCain. If the senator from Arizona were to win every other state that President Bush carried four years ago, but lose Ohio, he would fall four electoral votes short of the 270 needed to win the White House. Only Florida, of other major battlegrounds the Republicans won in the past two elections, looms as large as Ohio in determining the next president."
Well folks, the Obama Team is ready for the mud. With Obama out spending John McCain nearly 3 to 1 on television. I can see why he is leading in a vast majority of the key states. McCain has a bogus ad out there asking 'Who Is Barack Obama?' I'm glad Obama doubled down on McCain with his own 'Keating Economics' Documentary.
Tonight's Debate
Ahead of tonight's town hall-style Presidential debate, the Democratic National Committee released a new web ad highlighting John McCain's strength in town halls. The video, called "Town Hall McCain," includes clips of analysts praising John McCain's performance in town halls and shows McCain himself bragging about how much he enjoys them. As one Republican who called town halls "one of the hardest thing to do in politics" said, John McCain does town halls "better than any other politician."
Since McCain is the undisputed champion of the town hall, anything less than a game-changing performance tonight would be major disappointment.
AAPP: the fact of the matter is, the Town Hall format may not help John McCain this time. I hope Barack Obama gives McCain the Town Hall Meeting Smack Down! I will be routing for him.
Join me tonight in my after the debate discussion on my late Night Political Slugfest internet based radio program on blogtalkradio.com
