John McCain appears to hate himself and the way the campaign is going. Sarah Palin is not working out like he expected. She is not prepared for the press or Biden. He is getting beat up in the polls and now he has decided to do what no other finalist for the position of President of the United states has ever done, John McCain plans on suspending his presidential campaign tomorrow.
Get this, McCain says it is to get back to Washington to solve the financial crisis on Wall Street. Get this folks, John McCain has skipped more votes during this Senate session than any member of the Senate except for Tim Johnson, who had major brain surgery. Now as Nico Pitney has noted, "All of a sudden, McCain is demanding that the presidential race shut down so he can return to Washington?"
He has even called for a delay of Friday night's presidential debate. I guess John McCain is not feelin' his campaign or his campaign staff. For an example, McCain's campaign manager was paid more than $30,000 a month for five years as president of an advocacy group set up by the mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to defend them against stricter regulations, current and former officials say. As reported by International Hearld Tribune, McCain, has recently begun campaigning as a critic of the two companies and the lobbying army that helped them evade greater regulation as they began buying riskier mortgages with implicit federal backing.
All the Skeletons coming out of McCain Campaign closet
As reported by the International Hearld Tribune, Incensed by the advertisements, several current and former executives of the companies came forward to discuss the role that Rick Davis, McCain's campaign manager and longtime adviser, played in helping Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac beat back regulatory challenges when he served as president of their advocacy group, the Homeownership Alliance, formed in the summer of 2000. Some who came forward were Democrats, but Republicans, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed their descriptions.
"The value that he brought to the relationship was the closeness to Senator McCain and the possibility that Senator McCain was going to run for president again," said Robert McCarson, a former spokesman for Fannie Mae, who said that while he worked there from 2000 to 2002, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac together paid Davis's firm $35,000 a month. Davis "didn't really do anything," McCarson, a Democrat, said. More HERE
I agree with Nico Pitney, it's impossible to know why McCain chose this course, but it sure seems like more of a political stunt than a maverick moment. More HERE
Despite McCain's denunciation that the current proposal has "no consensus" and cannot pass, Frank said he would keep working with Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson.
"I'm not particularly focused on Senator McCain. I really don't care," he said. "I guess if I wanted expertise there [from the GOP ticket], I'd ask Sarah Palin."
