Hello folks, and thank you once again for tuning in an exciting episode of the ADR-NOW! Internet Radio Webinar. I am your host, Anthony Johnson.
In this episode, we will discuss the challenges associated with being served with a civil summons. The U.S. has over $3 trillion in household debt! This is the amount that lenders have written off since September of 2007. That tally includes home mortgages, auto loans, and student loans in addition to credit card debt. More than 450 debt buyers have scooped up an estimated $100 billion in distressed loans last year, according to the latest estimates by Kaulkin Ginsburg, a debt-collection industry advisor.
That means that there will be a plethora of civil summons to be filed as debt collectors attempt to collect on this outstanding debt. And that includes foreclosure deficiency judgments. What can you do? What will you do? Remember, debt collectors are being very savvy in their efforts to satisfy, recover and enforce judgments, which includes wage garnishments, liens, and bank levies. And, in some cases, they are resorting to putting folks in prison in efforts to satisfy a debt!
