    Kathi and Don Jones Interview Historian Regis Bobonis. Mr. Bobonis has dedicated the past five years of his life to researching the lives and accomplishments of the Tuskegee Airmen. Mr. Bobonis was the first African American newsman, writer and producer hired by a Pittsburgh television station WIIC-TV Channel 11. He has also been cited for being the first African American reporter at the Pittsburgh Post–Gazette. In 2006, Mr. Bobonis received the 2006 Outstanding Achievement Award from the University of Pittsburgh and WQED-TV. He also received the Governor’s Award in 1976.
