Justice Oliver Diaz– In 2000 he was elected to the Mississippi Supreme Court for an 8 year term starting in January 2001. The election was heated but Oliver managed to win  and then campaign to unseat him began.  In 2003 he was indicted on charges of Bribery and tax evasion. Because he had to deal with this he effectively was not able to hear cases for a number of years while the criminal matters played themselves out. He went to trial and was acquitted of all charges. When he was acquitted of the bribery charges he walked out of the courthouse and he was slapped with another indictment on the tax evasion charges. He went to trial and again was acquitted. His case is now the subject of a movie that's currently being filmed . His case was also featured in the award-winning documentary "hot coffee."
