Tina Field Howe spent her childhood in Waverly, NY, a quiet little village close to the northern border of Pennsylvania. There was lots of countryside where she grew up, and she spent a lot of time in the fields and woods near her house, examining creatures, climbing trees, racing along well-worn paths, and sometimes helping her mom, dad and grandmother with the gardening.
