Richard Benedetto joins Roger Aronoff to discuss President Obama’s relationship with the White House Press Corps., and his lack of transparency with the media, when compared to previous Administrations.

Benedetto is a retired White House correspondent and columnist for USA Today, for which he is a founding member, having joined the publication in 1982. He reported on local, state and national government and politics for nearly 40 years.  

He covered the White House during the administrations of Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. He has covered every national political convention since 1972 and every presidential campaign since 1984.

Benedetto became an adjunct professor at American University located in Washington D.C.  in 2006, where he teaches courses about national politics and elections, White House and the presidency, American political parties, political polling, and media performance and criticism.

He continues to write political commentary for publications such as Politico; and recent columns have also been published by Real Clear Politics and the Washington Times.
