• Yianni Diakomihalis won the 2018 NCAA title at 141 pounds to cap off a 37-1 rookie season.
• He became just the second Big Red rookie to secure a national title, joining four-time NCAA champ Kyle Dake.
• On the way to the title, Diakomihalis topped the two-time defending national champion at the weight (Oklahoma State's Dean Heil), avenged his only collegiate loss (Missouri's Jaydin Eierman) and knocked off the top seed and reigning national runner-up (Wyoming's Bryce Meredith) as the No. 3 seed.
• The EIWA champion and the Ivy League Wrestler and Freshman of the Year, he was also named the Amateur Wrestling News Rookie Wrestler of the Year.
• Diakomihalis won the Bearcat Open, New York State Intercollegiate, and Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite and closed his season with an 18-match win streak.
• Closed his season 12-1 against nationally ranked wrestlers, including a 4-2 sudden victory win over Meredith in the semifinals of the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.
• Posted a perfect 18-0 record against wrestlers from EIWA schools this year and was 5-0 in Ivy League dual meet competition.
• Began his career with a 19-match win streak.
• Won 26 matches with accompanying bonus points, including nine by fall and eight more by tech fall.

Prior to Cornell
• One of just seven four-time New York state champions while wrestling at Hilton HS.
• Closed his varsity career on a 210-match win streak, a state record, and a 243-3 career high school mark.
• Helped his team to four team state titles as a five-time captain.
• Was a four-time Democrat and Chronicle All-Greater Rochester Division I Wrestler of the Year
