Conservative bloggers have said of Mia Love that she “has the potential to be the next big thing in conservative politics.”
Ms. Love was born in Brooklyn, NY, as the daughter of immigrants from Haiti. As an adult, she moved to Utah, where she became Mayor of Saratoga Springs after serving two terms on the city council. As mayor, Ms. Love helped lead a city with multi-million dollar deficits to a city that receive "the highest Standard & Poor’s municipal rating available to a city of its class."
Ms. Love is quoted as saying “As a wife and mother of three children, I believe the best hope for our future is to focus on fiscal discipline, limited government and personal responsibility. These three core principles drive economic growth and opportunity." Ms. Love announced on January 5, 2012 her candidacy for the Republican nomination for Congress to represent Utah’s 4th Congressional District. She won the nomination on April 21st, at the 2012 Utah Republican Party Convention
