I am an artist, teacher, and mother. Recently, I wrote, Calm Focus Joy: The Power of Breath Awareness – A Practical Guide for Adults and Children (Coldstream Books, 2012). Breath awareness has been proven to reduce stress, increase focus, relieve depression, and promote overall well-being. I would be happy to share how breath awareness has helped me be a parent, and how it may have positively influenced my daughter, who is now 23. Perhaps my experiences would support parents who are wondering if all their knowledge, love, and wisdom is rubbing off on their seemingly rebellious teen. As well, I have taught breath awareness to challenging teenager with good results. Most of my students were eager to learn how to take time for themselves, look within, feel more confident, and learn how to calm down, focus, and develop more mastery over their lives.
