Anna Corba's studio is nestled among the vineyards and rolling hills north of San Francisco. A look inside reveals a cache of vintage elements waiting quietly for new direction. Bowls of ribbon and muffin tins holding buttons, dice and scrabble letters rest along a bench. Sundae glasses filled with shells, feathers and beads line up on the windowsill. A dusty pink collander brimming with softened lace and luscious trim sits atop a set of drawers housing vintage sheet music, french postcards and handmade paper. Antique cigar boxes gather rubber stamp sets among shelves lined with timeworn books. These are the objects Anna returns to time and again for inspiration and sustenance. She says, "Dipping my hands into the wealth of this beauty, I feel anchored to something larger than myself, able to see past what already exists, into a vast opening of possibility...." Anna has been published numerous times, and she was named the Entrepeneur of the Year in 2006, by Country Living Magazine.

Ruth Rae is a classically trained jeweler and instructor. During Ruth’s tenure as a metal smith she began to experiment with other forms of media and techniques. As time has progressed Ruth’s true passion has become “mixed media fiber art.” Ruth’s pieces are internationally recognized for their unexpected yet elegant combinations of altered fabrics, vintage lace and antique papers that find themselves intertwined with transparencies, found objects and words that are bound together by hand and machine stitching. Ruth enjoys sharing her creative process in her contributions to Cloth Paper Scissors, Belle Armoire Jewelry, Somerset Studio and Artful Blogging. Ruth is currently working on her next book about mixed media fabric art that will be released in 2009. Ruth can be seen on Quilting Arts TV (show # 204), with two Quilting Arts Workshop DVD’s available from Interweave Press. Ruth has most recently co-authored a unique book, “A Charming Exchange”, that not only includes techniques with bounds of inspiration for creating mixed-media jewelry inspired from charms from an array of 25 artists but also walks the readers through step-by-step jewelry techniques. Ruth Rae also is one of many extraordinary instructors joining us for ZNE ConvenZioNE 2009. www.ZNEcon.com
