    Where Did My Memory Go????

I know what all of you are thinking! Has she finally lost it???

Well the answer to that is No. Well, sometimes, maybe, hell I don't know. When I got up this morning and after stumbling down the hallway to make coffee I had something I needed to do- besides write this blog.

Anyway, I couldn't remember what it was that was so important for me to do. As I fumbled my way over to the coffee machine there was a note stuck to it. The note said, "Pay Insurance". Well there you go. That is what I had to do.

As I was writing the check for the insurance, I began think about what has happened to my memory. Things I want to remember like paying the insurance seem to wander off into that place in my brain reserved for unimportant stuff. I have no idea why. The things I need to forget like names of people who have ticked me off seem to stay in the front cortex of my brain.

So, I decided to ask Layla what she thought. After she finished laughing at me with her wicked and evil laugh (more of a cackle) she explained to me what happened somewhere down the road of life.

The conversation went something like this:

ME: What is wrong with me? There was a time when I could remember entire converstations.

Layla with her evil grin: But now you have me and I don't like to remember stuff that isn't fun.

ME: But bills have to be paid and things have to be done.

Layla: But fun things like thinking about how I am going to get back at  those who have pissed you off is more fun.

She is such a witch. The conversation continued for a while until I got bored or she got tired and then I figured  out the real reason for the loss of my memory.

I remembered a skit where the one and only Bill Cosby talked about this very thing. He said that as we get older our brain travels from our head to our butt. Which makes sense to me in a strange sort of way.

Any way he said we can be sitting down and remember we have to do something - we get up out of our chair walk out of  the room and into the other room to do that thing which we have remembered we have to do.

In the meantime some where between the two destinations we forget. We stand in the second room turning round and round  wondering why we are there. Finally in frustration of the act of feeling stupid we go back and sit down in our comfortable chair.

Then BAM it hits us. We remember what it was we needed to do. The key is as Bill Cosby says our brain has gone to our butt. We have to sit on it to remember things we have forgotten.

Now when one thinks about that for a while it makes perfect sense. We spend all our life thinking about all these things. The brain gets tired and wants to stop thinking. So if figures out all by itself that it will just relocate. If we can't find it then we can't use it.

No only does it re-locate but it solicites the help of our butt to hide it from us. Now while most times the butt helps out really well until we sit on it- the brain doesn't always win.

I have played Johnny Jump Up so many times when I remembered after sitting down that I had to do something that I feel like a jack in the box. Now this really pisses off the back and legs and feet who aren't very happy with me anyway. They are already in revolt and now the brain is playing games.

I have decided that if I can find a decent trade in I am trading in this body and the brain which seems to revel in losing it's memeory for a newer model. Maybe Layla will go with it. She aids and abeds when she hides things from me.

Things I know I put in a certain place and when I go back - well of all things it is not there. I know I am not losing my memory. Maybe it is just so full of information it can't handle any more input.

Or maybe it has decided to relocate. Oh before I forget join me on www.blogtalkradio.com/angellesa tonight at 8:00pm central and 9:00pm Eastern it is open mic night and I promise it will be a great show. That is if I dont' forget who I am lol
