Afsaneh Noori & Venita Garvin Valdez will welcome Bobbie Marquis. Although she is a business woman, she will talk to us as a mother, who lost her beautiful 23-year old son, Adam, who died by suicide. The road of healing has held its pain, its gifts and its surprises. Bobbie did not think she could survive this, but she has and it is her hope that by sharing her experience she might help ease someone else's pain.

Our guest Ester Bird is certified life and career coach as well as the First Vice President of BPWFL. She will talk about how she coaches her clients to find their passion and then the job that embodies that passion.

As an avid supporter for women, Esther Bird has been involved in many women's organizations in her community. After nearly 30 years working in corporate America, Esther made the decision to start her own business, Bright Future Coaching, http://www.brightfuture4u2.com/. She received her training and certification from the Life Purpose Institute in San Diego, California and is now a certified life and career coach. Her focus is helping women of all ages.
Esther has been a member of Business and Professional Women of Englewood/Venice since 2001. She served as the LO treasurer in 2003-04 and President in 2004-05 and 2005-06. At the district level, Esther served as Assistant Director in 2006-07 and District Director in 2007-08.
In 2008-09 Esther has served as First Vice President of the Florida Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc. and she is currently running for that position for 2009-10.

The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently announced the availability of a checklist, Planning for Your Discharge , that prompts patients and caregivers to ask questions about key discharge planning topics. The document covers discharges from a variety of health care settings including hospitals and nursing facilities. Topics include likely care needs, options for continuing care, post-discharge care instructions, and community-based resources. Acting CMS Administrator Kerry Weems is asking providers to distribute the checklist to patients and families and has issued a letter explaining the information in the checklist, the benefits to patients and providers from using and distributing the tool, and where to obtain free copies of the checklist

You don’t want to miss the information about elder care options and resources if you are responsible for caring for elder parents or relatives. We welcome Bette Light, a registered nurse with a BS in Health Education, a Master's degree in gerontology and healthcare administration. She has been working in the field of geriatrics since 1973 and will tell us about the services available for elderly as well as what to expect if you are caring for them.
