Yes a picture is worth a thousand words.

A pictures is worth a thousand words is something that we have heard several times. What does that really mean? Well the this is the original "Chinese proverb" from a streetcar advertisement.The quotation has wrongly been translated as:  A Picture Is Worth One Thousand Words. The lietaral translation is: A Picture's Meaning Can Express Ten Thousand Words. Some how the phony Chinese proverb over the years has been given the literal meaning that a picture is equivalent to a thousand words setting up a clash between words and pictures in the minds of users of the two. However I beg to differ the idea that you can see a picture of a tree and see the word tree and get the same visual they are forms of communication. One can capture a moment in time by one picture and write that same moment in time in a journal that may take a thousand words to convey. By using descriptive words one may develop the same visual image as the one taken on the picture without even seeing the picture.
