  Ellen Voie Discusses - WOMEN IN TRUCKING

  Ellen Voie is the President/CEO of the Women in Trucking Association - Their mission statement says it all : "Women In Trucking was established to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry, promote their accomplishments and minimize obstacles faced by women in trucking". Ellen serves on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Motor Carrier Association and was involved in adapting the Wisconsin Driver's Manual. She is the recipient of the Skinner Humanitarian award, which is presented annually to a trucking advocate in her state. She helped found and organize the Trucker's Pride Day in Waupaca, Wisconsin and convinced Governor Tommy Thompson to proclaim the event as a statewide "Trucker Appreciation Day." Ellen has written extensively about trucking and family issues, and her articles have appeared in print and internet magazines. She is also a published author - 'Marriage in the Long Run' - a collection of some of her most popular columns. She holds a Master's Degree in Communication from the University of Wisconsin.   HazMat Operations

  For the shows debut, Allen is joined by HazMat expert, Barry Szczucki, discussing the dangers of hazardous material operations and the do's and dont's of the industry. Specializing in the Petroleum Industry, the high cost of fuel effecting all owner operators will also be discussed, and Mr. Szczucki gives his outlook on where he believes fuel prices are headed.

  Trucking Software for Owner Operators

  In today’s world of technoloy, how does one choose a certain program or software for personal or business use. The supply is endless! Normally, I tend to stay away from recommending such items, but I happened to come across a great piece of trucking software that helps with bookkeeping and fuel tax reporting. Made by Omni Communications, who have been in business since 1993, their are thousands of truckers worldwide using this software.
  
  The software has been reviewed by several major Trucking Magazines including Landline and Overdrive, and it is a member of the BBB. Always one to completely check something out before purchasing, I found this software to be an excellent tool for owner operators and small fleet owners….so I thought I’d pass my two cents along…….
