Want to be scammed for a million dollars?Insurance broker and author describes one man’s misfortunes after winning the lottery. Everyone has heard the question: What would you do if you won a million dollars? And lottery players will do anything to make that dream a reality, even if it means buying lottery analysis software or using lottery theories of hot and cold numbers or scanning lottery statistics websites. But is winning the lottery really what it’s cracked up to be? In his humorous, fast-paced novel, “Lotto” (Ovation Books, Jan. 2009, 978-0-9814534-3-9, $12.95), former insurance broker and author Joe McDonald reveals what would happen if that dream came true, only to be stolen away just as quick as it was won. “Lotto” follows Michael Collins, an average guy who finds himself in a world of trouble after picking the winning $23 million lottery ticket. Deciding to keep it a secret from his unfaithful wife, he seeks the help of Norm Feinberg, a lawyer who has lost his retirement savings due to bad financial advice. While Collins tries his best to cheat his spouse out of millions, Feinberg devises a plan to swindle his client out of the jackpot.

"The Fine Print of Self Publishing."

Mark Levine talks about his book "The Fine Print of Self Publishing." How to recognize book publishing predators An in-depth look at the self-publishing industry So many options are available to authors today that choosing a publisher that fits your needs—and your budget—should be easy, right? But with more self-publishing companies and vanity presses vying for your business than ever before, aspiring authors should beware: quality publishers will deliver a superior product at a fair price, but publishing predators will overcharge and under-deliver. Publishing industry watchdog Mark Levine educates authors about the possible pitfalls of choosing a self-publishing company for the first time. He analyzes and critiques the contracts and services of the top 45 self-publishing companies in the third edition of his acclaimed book, The Fine Print of Self-Publishing (Bascom Hill Publishing Group, September 2008). Leveraging extensive firsthand research and experience as a corporate and entertainment lawyer, Levine outlines the essential qualities to consider when picking a self-publishing company, educating authors on how to decipher the legalese and fine print of self-publishing contracts.
