    Long strange and sideways trip

Even though I somehow missed out being on the Wonder Show this week, I did tune in and listen.  Mike and John had a wacky little adventure in the sideways house from the movie "Sideways".  What?  You don't remember a sideways house in the movie "Sideways"?  All the more reason to tune in, lumpy!

But the weird house is just a small part of the reason to give this piece of junk a chance.  Mike and John spend the whole show discussing the merits of the many non-Lennon/McCartney Beatles songs!  Wow, an actually interesting topic on the Wonder Show!!  PLUS, all the music this week are great ukulele covers of actual Beatles songs!  How'd we swing that??  Honestly I'm still not sure.  But if you like the Beatles, "Sideways", or stir fry, you've got to hear this week's show.

    HELP US!

HELP!!!  Mike and I are trapped in a ditch on the side of the road!!  HELP!!!

Yes, it's true that we managed to do a show anyway, but only thanks to the fact that there happens to be a working computer here in the ditch we landed in.  We were able to log into the BTR site, and do our show.  But since our cell phones were tied up with doing the show, we couldn't call for help!  And now our phones are either lost, can't get reception, or have run out of battery power.  (It is a night of overused plot contrivances, after all!)  And to top it all off, I, Jim the Radio Guy, had amnesia for a spell!  (What did I just say about plot contrivances?)

What a pickle!  It's late at night, it's wet out, there's traffic zooming by mercilessly, and we're stuck in a ditch!!  John the Radio Gross, or anyone else who may be reading, please - PLEASE! - come to our ever lovin' rescue!!

In the meantime, we'll see you on Facebook, MySpace, and here at BTR.  Don't lose your Wonder, people!  And subscribe to the weekly show through the iTunes Music Store.

Oh, what am I doing?  I can only fain normalcy so long - WE'RE TRAPPED IN A DITCH, AND ARE GOING TO DIE!!

  • Original Air Date:

    1.29 Hoo How, What now?

When Mike and Jim are stuck in a ditch on the side of the road, things get worse when one of them is hit with amnesia!! Could the plot contrivances come any quicker? March Madness continues in true Wonder style!

    Who Watches the Wonder Show?

Tonight's Wonder Show was "March Madness".  Somehow, that came to embody a prophesy of death, a "Watchmen" themed elimination tournament, a prowling hungry lion, and a non-wicker wicker man.  Me, I still don't get it.  So in place of any further pointless rambling, I present to you a classic moment from that all-time classic, Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar", Act I, Scene II (The setting: a public place):

    Soothsayer
    15   Caesar!

    CAESAR
    16   Ha! who calls?

    CASCA
17   Bid every noise be still: peace yet again!

    CAESAR
18   Who is it in the press that calls on me?
19   I hear a tongue, shriller than all the music,
20   Cry 'Caesar!' Speak; Caesar is turn'd to hear.

    Soothsayer
21   Beware the ides of March.

    CAESAR
    22   What man is that?

    BRUTUS
23   A soothsayer bids you beware the ides of March.

    CAESAR
24   Set him before me; let me see his face.

    CASSIUS
25   Fellow, come from the throng; look upon Caesar.

    CAESAR
26   What say'st thou to me now? speak once again.

    Soothsayer
27   Beware the ides of March.

    CAESAR
28   He is a dreamer; let us leave him: pass.

Sennet. Exeunt all except BRUTUS and CASSIUS

    ***

Hah!  It may be no "Watchmen", but it's all I've got for you this time.  So ponder THAT over your next can of aerosol cheese, pencil necks!

    Thanks for listening.

    JRG
