  • Original Air Date:

The Chains of the Mind can be Broken!

Join the Urban View as we critique "Breaking the Psychological Chains of Slavery" by Dr. Na'im Akbar. We will explore the assertion that African Americans suffer psychological trauma from the inhumane treatment of slavery. Our dialogue in two-parts begin this episode and will conclude next week. What are your thoughts on the topic? Do we still perpetuate a "slave-mentality" in the Black community? Give us a call and weigh in your perspective.

  • Original Air Date:

Madoff: Robin Hood or Robbing the Hood?

Which is it? Has Madoff robbed his hood or is he today's Robin Hood? They can't seem to find the money and he is not talking. The word is that he potentially could have donated the money; what do you think about the fiasco? Should his wife be allowed to keep her 60 million or is it billion? President Obama on Jay Leno; what are your thoughts? Is he on the scene too much or not enough? Was the interview appropriate or should he have been doing other things? What are your thoughts? Have you heard about the family in Austria whereby the father locked his daughter in a dungeon of sorts for 24 years and fathered 7 kids by her without his wife's knowledge? The father was given life in prison...talk about dysfunctionalism. Join us on the air weigh in your perspective live.

  • Original Air Date:

America: A Numb Society The Psychology of Feeling

Join us and experience the connection between your first crush and how you make judgements to this day. Who was your 1st Crush? Think Back!!! Certainly, in your pursuit of happiness from then to now, there was someone that created a sense of anxiety and fascination…you know… that encounter from a kid that made you excited to catch a glimpse of the person…that’s the time we’re talking about. There was innocence involved. The first crush is one of those events out of “ordinary time”. Recall the crush, but more importantly, recall the feelings. During this week of spiritual boot camp, we invite you to “Get out of the Numb”. Your 1st Crush is a baseline to assist you in “feeling”. Many old flames (metaphorically stated) are being rekindled while the wicks on others have burned out…Join the show live and weigh in your perspective. Let’s face it; we are partakers of a numb society that we have all helped to create according to our truth quotient.

  • Original Air Date:

Race Matters: Racism, the Cultural Norm of American Society

How do we uproot the cultural norm of Racism in America? Is boycotting enough? Do we need to change our lifestyle? When do we begin educating our children and ourselves? Are people willing to make the necessary changes? What happens when Historically Black INstitutions negate the reality trying to be "mainstream"? Are folks concerned enough to make a change? Does racism matter to those felt unaffected by it in the Black Community? On another note, spiritual bootcamp topic for this evening: mind.

  • Original Air Date:

    Racism: An American Disease

Racism is alive and thriving in America. Having a Black president has forced the hand of “systemic” racist undertones. What are your thoughts about the cartoon in the New York Post depicting President Obama as a monkey? Is it satire or racism? Have you heard the latest from Anne Coulter? It seems she is attributing single motherhood, in the Black community in particular, for the condition of self annihilation…Spiritual boot camp addresses the necessity of putting your mind at ease. We will spend time on the mind this week and see what connections we can make in community for better mental care. Join us live on the air and weigh in your perspectives.
