Revenue Sharing

BlogTalkRadio, The Social Broadcast Network is excited to announce the launch of our advertising and revenue share program effective January 1, 2008.

Types of Advertising Insertions

Our initial foray into monetizing the “Long Tail” will be banner ads which will appear on the host profile pages as well as audio pre-roll ads which will be inserted into the archived shows. With our ad serving technology, we can accommodate advertisers that want both audio ads inserted in the broadcasts AND banner ads on the host profile pages. We will work with hosts that want to read ads during the live broadcast. Also, in the future we plan on using our upload file feature to play audio ads at certain times during the live broadcast (for example at 15 minutes).

Who brings the advertisers and sponsors?

The short answer is both of us. As a network, we have the ability to aggregate our content and offer to advertisers both large volumes of impressions as well as highly targeted demographics. For example, if Nike is interested in becoming a sponsor on our network, than we can deliver “X” number of impressions focused on sports. If Nike wants to target a more specific genre like college football we can accommodate that request as well. The hosts that created these sports shows will share in the revenue.

Many of you have been approached by either existing sponsors on your blog or web site or new advertisers or sponsors that have expressed interest in sponsoring your radio show. Generally speaking, higher advertising dollars will be generated by sponsorships, versus network sold run of the mill ads. Your content and message is unique and highly personal and therefore finding a company to sponsor your radio show is more than possible. In the event you do have interested sponsors, please contact our advertising department to let them know. You will work with our advertising team to secure the highest possible sponsorship rates for your radio show.

How do you share in the revenues?

We understand what it takes to produce an entertaining radio show. It’s nice to see your hard work pay off when your listener numbers increase week after week. We provide you with this platform at no cost, and you provide the content. Now that we are ready to start monetizing our content, we want to share advertising and sponsorship revenue with you, the publisher. All advertising revenue which is earned from your show either in the form of banner ads on your host profile page or audio ads inserted into your live and archived downloads will be shared. By opting into our Revenue Sharing program you can now use BTR to create, distribute and monetize your content. It’s easy - the more listeners you get the more your show will earn. It’s not likely you will retire from your day job, but the opportunity to earn a few bucks while doing something you love is exciting.

Here is how it works:

  1. If BTR brings in the advertiser and/or sponsor then we will share 35% of revenue with the hosts/publisher.
  2. If Host brings in the advertiser and/or sponsor for their show, then we will share 50% of that revenue with the host.
  3. We are developing reporting tools, which will be available in January 2008, so you can easily track how many listeners you have had and how much cash you have earned.
  4. As always, for our basic service, we will continue to host your shows and provide our tools at no charge.

Promoting your show

It has been proven over and over again that promoting your show by using the flash player embedded on your blog, website or Myspace page will bring the most listeners. By using our player widget, your audience will not only know that you have your own radio show, but they can listen to your last show directly from your blog or site without visiting www.blogtalkradio.com. Our flash player, which includes a link to your BTR page, and a subscription and sharing feature, can be found on your host profile page or under the “promote” tab in your dashboard. Simply copy this code and paste it to the side panel of your blog, site or Myspace page.

Properly placing the flash player widget on your site is a requirement in order to participate in the Revenue Sharing program. Those hosts that do not use the flash player will not participate.

Your player code appears on your host profile and in the “promote” section of your dashboard after you are logged in. If you need help locating and/or placing the flash player on your blog, website or myspace page, please contact us at service@blogtalkradio.com.
