RADIO SYNDICATION NEWS AND DISCUSSION
Date / Time: 8/22/2008 8:29 PM UTC
Syndicated radio personalities Steve Harvey, Doug Banks, Tom Joyner, and Michael Baisden are set to participate in Clear Channel's "Build the Dream" radiothon on August 28 to raise funds for a Washington DC, memorial to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Clear Channel is working with the King National Memorial Project Foundation on the radiothon, which will be held on the 45th anniversary of the historic March on Washington. Also participating will be Aretha Franklin, Samuel L. Jackson, Ice Cube, Cedric The Entertainer, Gen. Colin Powell, Tavis Smiley, and others. The celebrities will be featured throughout the day on participating Clear Channel stations, sharing their thoughts about King and the value of a memorial to honor his ideals. "We are honored to have such a renowned group of personalities join forces in our campaign to honor Dr. King," said Clear Channel SVP/Urban Programming Doc Wynter. "The support of these additional celebrities in conjunction with 36 Clear Channel stations nationwide takes us one step closer to reaching the Memorial Foundation's fund raising goals."
