Pocono Preview: Talking About The Pocono Mountains

    It's springtime in the Poconos!

While those who enjoy the winter are disappointed, those who embrace the summer are energized.

The Poconos are in eastern Pensylvania, less than a two hour drive from either the New York or Philadelphia metro areas.

In the summer, the area is frequented by people who are into eco-tourism. Take a look at www.poconopreview.com for some video highlights that range from resorts such as Sky Top to the Tannersville Union Cemetary Tour.

The 2000 foot elevation provides moderate weather, although an overcast sky might be around for several days.

Join me and my guest Eric Kimes, a former professional skier, as we talk about the ski season and a few of his clients, now that he is a businessman with an internet marketing company called www.webleaps.com.

We'll be joined by David Trout, director of the Mt. Gilead Camp & Conference Center in the Poconos. David will be on hand to talk about the camp and the programs he has to offer young women throughout the summer. Check out www.mtgileadcamp.org for additional information.

Eric Kimes, marketing director for Webleaps.com, a Pocono-based internet marketing company, will be my first guest. Eric, a former professional skier, will discuss this year's ski season and the approach of the summer when Camelback, the largest ski area in the Poconos becomes a water theme park.

Poconos: Eco-tourism in a Resort Environment

It may be 21 degrees in the sun, but summer is on the way. Do you know where you are going to go this summer with the family? If you live in the Northeastern United States, you've probably heard of the Poconos.

Beginning Tuesday, March 18th, we'll be talking about the Poconos each week. Guests will be from the various resort properties and attractions. We'll preview things to come, as well as discuss what's happen now!

In the 70s and 80s, it was the destination of choice for thousands of people for their honeymoon. While heart-shaped beds are still available, the nature of the area has changed dramatically.

There are traditional resorts such as Skytop, Pocono Manor and Shawnee, dozens of hotels with a full range of amenities, and, over the past decade or so, slopeside condos, golf courses and water parks.

Less than two hours east of New York City and Philadelphia, the elevation changes to provide cooler summer temperatures and a wide array of activites, ranging from RV parks and campgrounds to deluxe accommodations with an indoor waterpark.

If you like to hike or bike, paddle a canoe or kayak, the Poconos would be a great place to visit. Check out PoconoPreview.com for more information, and a convenient online reservation service.
