He actually trained in the Air Force! He served 5 years and then when he got out, he was able to get a good echo job in a civilian hospital. =) He currently works at a hospital 4 days a week (10 hour shifts), and then he works at a doctor's office on the 5th day. We're really hoping he can get registered soon, though...so far, no one in his department is, so if he can get it first, there might be a raise in our future. ;o)

I saw your sig on the shoe thread and wanted to say Hi! We seem to have a lot in common: I'm a Christian Republican in my 20s with 3 kids, but I'm a SAHM and my DH is an echo tech! =) Just thought it was great to see someone in the same field as my husband! (He's not registered yet, though...been his goal for years! He's been doing this for close to 15 years)

Hi :) I'm really glad you started the career thread. I'm thinking of starting fresh in something. Sonography is something that has interested me in the past but I kind of gave up on it because I kept hearing that after a few years, a lot of sonographers have to change careers because of back or shoulder problems. Have you been doing this for a while, and have you heard the same thing? I haven't heard of the specialization for cardiac sonography before. Is that something you have to go to a specific school for? Do you find that you see a lot of blood/guts type of thing in your line of work? The reason I ask is because I get nauseous if I see that. Sorry for all the questions! I'm trying to figure out if I should reconsider this career option. Thanks in advance for anything you want to tell me about this career. :)

I'm in my 20's, proud to be a Christian, Republican, and wife to a wonderful man. I live in Florida with my husband and 2 dogs and am a Registered Cardiac Sonographer. I love to read, shop, and make people laugh. I have learned so much from my fellow FLYbabies and SHEs. I have been FLYing since March 6, 2008!
