Hi Melanie, I asked my husband (he has a Ph.D.) and he confirmed that here they never call him Dr. Robic. It's not done in France unless they are an MD. But in the US, you would call them Dr. ABC for a French person with a doctoral degree out of respect. (They don't respect a doctoral degree so much here, unfortunately...) Not sure where the person is that you want to address. I am not sure how the rule would apply in French speaking Canada, for example. Hope this helps. Hope you had great holidays!!! Bonne année!
