       As it was for Saturday Night Live's Tina Fey, it may be a case of just being herself, but in doing so Vernetta Jenkins is making a bold career move as a the "premier" First Lady look alike of Michelle Obama .
       An accomplished producer, singer, and voice over artist, Ms. Jenkins says her recent claim to notariety virtually fell into her lap when Mrs. Obama started appearing in the news, and friends and family bombarded her about her uncanny (although some may strongly beg to differ) resemblance.
       Earlier this year, Ms. Jenkins appeared on Regis and Kelly Live. She also appeared in a President Obama spoof titled Blame the Economy and it has had more than 2.3 million hits on You Tube. The most recent spoof is titled Obama Does Thriller, which is fast approaching 100,000 hits on You Tube.
       Also scheduled is book author Hazel Mills. She has penend two novels, Bare Necessities and Journey to Surrender, and she'll be discussing her books plus the emotional societal issue of sexual abuse.

       The Maverick will never attempt to steal another person's lines, yet it is true that in this lifetime we're all going to have an issue or two or three to deal with simultaneously or individually.

       Poet, writer, performer, entrepreneur b.r. burns, a fellow Texan, appears regularly on the popular Michael Baisden Show. He is also the star of a one-man show titled, "One Man, One Mic . . . and a Whole Lot of Issues, and so The Maverick decided that he'll have a bit of fun with his fellow Blog Talk Radio show host of The B.R. Burns Show: Everybody Has Issues.

       Mr. Burns has produced three spoken word CDs and has authored a book titled Easier Said Than Done.

    Do You Have Sax-Appeal?

       One of The Maverick's favorite trivia questions is who was the sax player in Ms. Patrice Rushen's hit single Forget Me Nots from the early 1980s?

       Most people draw a blank, and when mentioning the name Gerald Albright the response is, "Oh, yeah . . . nice." Well, The Maverick is saying that as Mr. Albright will be visiting Maverick Media. Hopefully, there will be many others that night listening in saying the same thing.

       Mr. Albright is not only an accomplished Grammy award-nominated saxophonist, but a bass guitar player, songwriter, and producer.

    Tell It to the Judge . . . Lynn Toler

       In the current Divorce Court series, Judge Lynn Toler has taken the show to higher popularity with her tough but often fair style of arbitrating divorce cases of real life litigants.

       Judge Toler, a native of Columbus, is an Ivy League-educated legal professional who earned her bachelor's in English and American Literature at Harvard and later her graduate degree in law from Penn University. She worked as a civil attorney before she earned a seat as an administrative judge at Cleveland Heights (Ohio) Municipal Court, where she earned a reputation for enforcing non-traditional judgments.

       Also scheduled: Emerging author Chermean T. Gregory. Her debut novel is Perfectly Addicted. Ms. Gregory says she had always believed in the art of the spoken word and the imagination being a powerful tool.

    A Night with Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr.

       Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr. recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary, an accomplishment that few entertainers can note. The couple first met as members of the Fifth Dimension, the legendary group that transcended music audiences during the 1960s and early 1970s.

       Ms. McCoo and Mr. Davis say that there is no magic bullet for having had a successful marriage in or out of the business. "In our case, faith and friendship keeps us together," says Ms. McCoo.

       Ms. McCoo and Mr. Davis wrote a book titled Up, Up and Away ... How We Found Love Faith and Marriage in the Entertainment World. They conduct marriage and relationship seminars, and they recently released a new CD The Many Faces of Love, a collection of meaningful love songs from the era of the 1960s and 1970s.

    It's Not Only in Vegas . . .

       In Las Vegas, we're told that what happens there stays there. Aboard The Chocolate Ship, national selling author Marissa Monteilh says what happens on a cruise ship stays there, too.

       A cruise ship is surprisingly a place where women allow their hair down and often satiate many of their curiosities that may not otherwise happen back on land. It is not surprising to hear how wings are sprouted, taboos are tolerated, truths are revealed, and hearts are broken and healed in a matter of a few days at sea or some vacation port of call.

       Ms. Monteilh, a former television reporter, part-time model and actress, is the author of eight novels, including best-selling gems May/December Souls and Hot Boyz.
