March of Liberty Radio

March of Liberty and Hear My Thunder social community are dedicated to views from a Constitutional perspective. The thunder is that grassroots sound we hear surrounding key areas impacting our daily lives. There are countless people who are fighting for their causes and clinging to the remains of an unprecedented experiment. The experiment was first brought to life over 220 years ago by 55 enlightened men and the results of their thunder are truly inspirational. Their experiment, the Federalist Republic, must be revived and the radio shows presented here will be but a humble attempt to shine the light on our world from a U.S. Constitutional perspective while continuing the march of liberty. Dwight D. Eisenhower reminded us all, "Freedom has its life in the hearts, actions, the spirit of men and so it must be daily earned and refreshed - else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die." Join us in our broadcasts as we attempt to offer our efforts to earn and refresh liberty.

Show Notes

Our Sunday show (7pm EST) has guests and discussions with a focus on the original intent of our founding. It is an interactive discussion with the goal of education through conversation which leads us to more educated action. We support constitutional study and debate while not endorsing any particular party. All who care to share should bring friends and family together for a weekly discussion that strives to better enlighten us all. We will discuss current events and we do have spirited debate yet we focus on mutual respect while avoiding argumentative labeling and name calling. Refresh your mind and help refresh our minds as well. Make it a weekly scheduled event and we'll see you on the radio!

    Are we in a Civil War?

    Kelsey Grammer mentioned we are in a civil war today. Are we? We'll discuss the idea of whether or not we are at war. If we are, who are the armies fighting for control? What side would be wise to choose and fight for?

  • Date / Time:

    Are We in a Civil War?

    Kelsey Grammer mentioned we are in a civil war while appearing on the Glenn Beck show recently. He felt the lines were quickly being drawn between those who support self-reliance and limited government versus those who feel the government needs to do more and think they're entitled to redistributed dollars.

    There are those among us who understand we weren't meant to be a democracy and there's a big difference between a federalist republic and a representative democracy. Many understand the importance of checks and balances in government versus majority control and majority rule. In that environment the 17th Amendment would need to be repealed and the electoral college restored yet many don't know what the 17th did and support a strictly popular vote for the president as well.

    Among the people are those who believe we should have a Constitutionally restricted Federal Government while the rest are OK with the deficit spending process that fuels numerous entitlement programs. Under a United States living within the Constitution Alexis de Tocqueville saw people associated locally to overcome challenges in education, welfare, policing, and other key issues impacting our families and local lives. Over the past century and a half we instead have the government driving areas they were never meant to. Examples are the Department of Education, welfare programs, federalized police forces, and D.C. controlling what states and communities are to do.

    In the beginning we supported a foreign policy introduced by Jefferson and embraced by Washington. It was a non-intervention approach to open interaction with the world without conflicting entanglements. Since Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson every administration has instead supported and interventionist approach that has led to our troops being in 130+ countries around the globe at a cost of over $1 trillion per year. This issue alone is quite misunderstood yet sparks anger among many who believe to not intervene or to not support intervention is somehow unpatriotic and passiveness.

    Do all of these differences point to a growing riff among the people that really does equate to being in a civil war. Not fought with guns, at least not yet, but with rhetoric, sound bites, and misdirection by politicians who only are focused on power over the people? We'll discuss the idea of whether or not we are at war. If we are, who are the armies fighting for control? What side would be wise to choose and fight for? What will be the outcome of the latest battle and will we survive as the country we think we are? Join us in this discussion this;

    Sunday at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/March-of-Liberty at 7pm EST.

    We must restore conversation in politics. During our discussion listeners can join in live chat as well as call in and voice their opinion. We hope to hear from people who support all sides of the discussion. If we are truly at war we must fight with debate so we can avoid fighting with weapons. Join us please and let's promote education through conversation.

    Oh... Lets talk a little more about this economy!

    We will follow up on our discussion from last week, and add more to it. If you had questions from last week, please post them in chat or call in, we would love to be challenged.

    The Bailout Begins - Will it help us?

    The House followed the Senate and the Kleptocracy won the day...is this really the right answer and we're just not seeing it? Will it really help us here in fly-over America or is it simply a temporary fix for a busted balloon? Did anyone even reference the U.S. Constitution or are their oaths once again ignored?
