Mission: The Real Man Campaign is an outreach to all men who are abusive, violent or potentially violent. We are seeking non violent, positive men for this campaign, who are ready, willing and able to assist in this urgent project. This campaign will not only help countless men become free from this relentless crime, but will help to put an end to the domestic violence crisis that is ongoing in every part of the world, restore families and save many lives. The 24 Hour Abuser Hot line will be a national hot line which will work in conjunction with the Real Man Campaign and will be established to operate just like the victims national hot line, with male advocates as the counselors to answer the calls from the abusers. This will allow volunteer access to help in time of need, versus court ordered, which is too late for many cases. There is help 24/7 for the victims, however, we need a hot line for abusers even more. This Campaign is appealing to all Clergy, Celebrities including Actors, Singers, Athletes, etc., Politicians, Medical Personnel, Military, Law Officers and all others that are considered to be men of positive influence to form a task force. The Abuser Hot line will be publicized via television, radio, internet, billboards, print media, etc and will be accessible via telephone, text messaging, email, chat or any other means of communication. This will give the abuser the opportunity to volunteer to get help before an episode gets out of hand. Benefits of this campaign: Interaction Lives saved Family restoration Volunteer versus ordered Men that are of positive influence are being sought out to stand up and be a helping hand to these abusers who are in need of a non violent mentor...one that can lead them in a new and much better way of life, than the one they are living right now. We have leaders in so many areas, that are paving the way for others to follow...why not for the cause of domestic violence, through a campaign that is specifically designed and targeted to reach these abusers, before another episode, which may very well be the last one for the victim? WE NEED MORE MEN TO TAKE A STAND AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. ABUSERS NEED YOU! VICTIMS NEED YOU! WE NEED YOU! BE SILENT NO MORE! IN ORDER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE TRAGIC WORLD OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, JOIN THE REAL MAN CAMPAIGN! Arthur Wiknik, Jr. served in the Vietnam War with Company A 2/506th of the 101st Airborne Division as an infantry squad leader from April 1969 to March 1970. He was one of the first in his unit to safely reach the top of Hamburger Hill during the final assault. A few months later, he prevented a possible attack on a remote firebase by discovering a nearby enemy weapons cache. Proud of his military service, Arthur Wiknik, Jr. is the author of Nam-Sense. According to the book description of Nam-Sense, it “is the brilliantly written story of a combat squad leader in the 101st Airborne Division. Arthur Wiknik was a 19-year-old kid from New England when he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968. After completing various NCO training programs, he was promoted to sergeant "without ever setting foot in a combat zone" and sent to Vietnam in early 1969. Shortly after his arrival on the far side of the world, Wiknik was assigned to Camp Evans, a mixed-unit base camp near the northern village of Phong Dien, only thirty miles from Laos and North Vietnam. On his first jungle patrol, his squad killed a female Viet Cong who turned out to have been the local prostitute. It was the first dead person he had ever seen. Arthur Wiknik’s account of life and death in Vietnam includes everything from heavy combat to faking insanity to get some R & R. He was the first man in his unit to reach the top of Hamburger Hill during one of the last offensives launched by U.S. forces, and later discovered a weapons cache that prevented an attack on his advance fire support base. Between the sporadic episodes of combat he mingled with the locals, tricked unwitting U.S. suppliers into providing his platoon with a year of hard to get food, defied a superior and was punished with a dangerous mission, and struggled with himself and his fellow soldiers as the anti-war movement began to affect his ability to wage victorious war.

August 28, 2008 (Alburquerque, NM) David Schmidly became the 20th president of the University of New Mexico in 2007. It is his third university presidency. When Schmidly came to the campus to meet with students he told them he planned to teach as part of his duties. He is an internationally respected researcher who has written 9 natural history and conservation books about mammals and more than 200 scientific articles. This fall Schimidly is teaching a seminar course on leadership at the Anderson School of Management.
There are 53 students enrolled in the course, which will use as a text Leadership: Texas Hold ‘Em Style by Dr. Andrew J. Harvey and Raymond E. Foster. In this lecture, Schmidly talks about how he became a leader.
About the leadership: Texas Hold em Style
Using poker as analogy for leadership, Captain Andrew Harvey, CPD (ret.), Ed.D. and Lieutenant Raymond E. Foster, LAPD (ret.), MPA found the right mix of practical experience and academic credentials to write a definitive book for leaders. Working together, Harvey and Foster have written Leadership: Texas Hold em Style. Most often leaders find they are given a set of resources people, equipment, funds, experience and a mission. As Foster noted, "You're dealt a certain hand. How you play that hand as a leader determines your success."
About the Authors
Dr. Andrew J. Harvey served in law enforcement for 25 years, the last 12 as a captain with a Southern California police agency. He holds bachelors and masters degrees from Cal State Los Angeles, and an educational doctorate in the field of organizational leadership from Pepperdine University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the California POST Command College, the West Point leadership Program, and is recognized in California as a master instructor.
Dr. Harvey is an experienced college educator, currently serving as a professor at the University of Phoenix, and as a faculty advisor at the Union Institute and University. He has been published numerous times in national and international publications. He is a recognized expert in leadership and career development, and has served as an instructor in command leadership at the Los Angeles Police Department Academy. He has appeared as a leadership authority on television and radio, including the internationally-broadcast Bloomberg Business Television Show, and the nationally syndicated Joey Reynolds Radio Show.
His first book, The Call to Lead: How Ordinary People Become Extraordinary Leaders, received national attention. The book shows the way for leaders toward ethical and competent leadership. Through his company, Andrew Harvey Seminars, he provides leadership training and consulting to individuals and organizations throughout the nation.
Raymond E. Foster was a sworn member of the Los Angeles Police Department for 24 years. He retired in 2003 at the rank of Lieutenant. He holds a bachelors from the Union Institute and University in Criminal Justice Management and a Masters Degree in Public Financial Management from California State University, Fullerton. He has completed his doctoral course work in business research. Raymond is a graduate of the West Point leadership program and has attended law enforcement, technology and leadership programs such as the National Institute for Justice, Technology Institute, Washington, DC.
Raymond is currently a part-time lecturer at California State University, Fullerton and the Union Institute and University. He has experience teaching upper division courses in law enforcement, public policy, technology and leadership. Raymond is an experienced author who has published numerous articles in a wide range of venues including magazines such as Government Technology, Mobile Government, Airborne Law Enforcement Magazine, and Police One. He has appeared on the History Channel and radio programs in the United States and Europe as subject matter expert in technological applications in law enforcement. His first book, Police Technology (Prentice Hall, July 2004) is used in over 100 colleges and universities nationwide.
