    SHOW NOTES:

    10/11/09

Well HEY THERE everybody! Hope you enjoyed my pseudo-solo show tonight! Yes, Abi was away racing dachshunds at Octoberfest, but thanks to content that was largely pre-recorded, I bet you hardly even noticed she was missing... we're sneaky that way. ;)

Anyhow, the two of us had a complete blast interviewing singer-songwriter (and Spice Girls fan! Woohoo!) Lindsay Rush. We hope you enjoyed the interview too... buuuuut if you weren't able to join us, here's the stuff you missed.

    THE TUNES:
    "Wrecking Ball" by Bruce Springsteen
    "Kodachrome" by Paul Simon
"Helter Skelter" as covered by Pat Benatar

    CLASSIC ROCK NEWS:
    - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have officially closed Giants Stadium in style... but are they breaking up? HELLZ no, as far as I'm concerned. Give 'em some time off though, gang. It's been a busy 2009 for the ol' Boss-man. Oh, and if you want to hear that awesome "Wrecking Ball" tune again? Head on over to http://www.brucespringsteen.net
    - Peter Criss announced this week that, though he was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, he has just recently been declared cancer-free by his doctor! Woohoo! I used this bit of excellent news as a springboard for our Breast Cancer Awareness month specials.

    BIRTHDAY OF THE WEEK:
    - Paul Simon (Simon & Garfunkel)

    UNDER THE COVERS:
    - In connection with Lindsay Rush's frequent touring partner, we decided to play a tune Pat Benatar covered: a little Beatles ditty that you White Album fans know like the back of yer hand, (whoa... when did that mole get there??)

And... well, most of the 90 minutes was spent chatting with Lindsay, so if you want to know what we talked about with her... well, download the podcast and listen for yourself, dangit! You won't be disappointed!

    Check out Lindsay online!
http://www.lindsayrushmusic.com (also check her out on Twitter & Facebook!)

No theme PERSE next week, though we will be continuing our October Breast Cancer Awareness "WOMEN ROCK!" special tie-ins, so be sure to listen up for those.

    Til next week gang!
    - Kay

  • Original Air Date:

    EP#56 - 10/11/09 - Rocking Rush (Lindsay, that is)

Tonight Kay and Abi sat down to chat with Philadelphia-based recording artist Lindsay Rush- she's our age, records her own tunes AND she's opened for the likes of Pat Benatar, The Bangles and Styx! How absolutely freakin' cool can you get?? News: Bruce Springsteen rocks the Meadowlands and Peter Criss announces that he is officially cancer-free! Birthday of the Week: Paul Simon (Simon & Garfunkel)

  • Date / Time:

    10/04/09 - Show Notes

    SHOW NOTES:

    10/04/09 -

Tonight was our long-anticipated salute to the great musical legend John Lennon! Yep... we'd been teasing this night since, ooo... June or so? lol Hope with that much lead-up time we lived up to expectations. :)

If you weren't able to join us for all the Beatley, Lennony, Give Peace a Chancy (???) fun... here's what you missed:

    THE TUNES:
"Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" by The Beatles
    "Mind Games" by John Lennon
    "This Boy" by The Beatles
& performed by Sean Lennon, Rufus Wainwright and Robert Schwartzmann

    ABI'S CLASSIC ROCK NEWS:
    - Gene Simmons will be appearing in "The Christmas Movie" this holiday season. A release date hasn't been determined yet, but a trailer IS available online and you can view it HERE.
    - Also in the land of rock, we have "I Slept with Joey Ramone" coming out soon. Don't think this is a groupie tell-all, though. This is actually a book written by Joey's brother Mickey Leigh and will be released in December.
    - Rhoadsfest! This "best tribute to Randy Rhodes ever" is coming up on December 6th at the legendary Whiskey A Go-Go in LA.
    - Lucy Vodden, the woman who inspired the legendary Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" has passed away after a long battle with lupus. She was 46 years old.

    KAY'S CLASSIC ROCK NEWS:
    - We previously reported about some rare John Lennon footage featuring John smoking pot. Big, earth-shaking news I know... but it annoyed Yoko. In fact, the whole mess is now resulting in a lawsuit to the tune of $6.3 million!!
    - Phil Spector may be behind bars, but he's not going to let that stop him from making money. *His* back catalogue from the 60s is being remastered for a Christmas rerelease.
    - Speaking of releases, Paul McCartney evidently had his three-night run at Shea Stadium back in July filmed! Woohoo! "Good Evening New York City" is a 2-CD set and a single DVD and will be hitting store shelves on November 17th.
    - And lastly in new music releases, Bob Dylan's Christmas album is ready! "Christmas in the Heart" is due out on October 13th, but if you're a member with Citi Bank you can use your card number to download the music a week earlier on October 6th! Woo... hoo?

    BIRTHDAYS THAT ROCK:

    - We featured John's son Sean Lennon!

    SOLDIER SALUTE:
    - Abi took a moment out to salute Sgt. First Class Arthur F. Jewett, a long-lost Korean War veteran, finally laid to rest this week after being listed as "missing" for 59 years.

And that's it! Don't miss next week as we sit down to chat with singer/songwriter LINDSAY RUSH! (check out her website!) She's our age, she rocks, she writes her own material... she's opened for Pat Benatar, Styx, The Bangles among others. Can it really get much more kick@ss than that?

    Til next week gang!
    - Kay
