Juanita Harris is a poet & freelance writer from Philadelphia, PA. Juanita began writing in her adolescent years; this was an especially difficult time for her as her parents were going through a bitter divorce. She learned quickly that poetry and writing could be a great way to release pinned up feelings and free her soul. Poetry, being her main writing genre, began to play a big part in her life. Using it to express emotions that come with many obstacles she has had to face in life, she could reach out to others who shared similar experiences. These obstacles have included her parent’s separation, becoming a teen parent, domestic abuse, single parenting and dealing with an ill child. Juanita’s first published work was a poem titled, "These are the Hands." At the age of 18 and already a mother for four years, she wrote this poem in dedication to her daughter. It was published in a local community newspaper in Philadelphia. Since then Juanita has published various works online. These works include articles, interviews and fiction stories. Other published works by Juanita include a poem titled, “Bound,” this poem was published in “The 12th Annual Poetry Ink Chap Book” by Moonstone, Inc. in March of 2008. Juanita’s story, “Real Love” was accepted for publication in the “Loving Your Life Anthology” which will be published by Osbey Books and available this Fall. At the age of 28 years old, Juanita is now celebrating the release of her first poetry book. Her debut collection of poetry is titled, “RIP-Rejection, Inspiration & Peace.” The title tells of the writer’s struggle to become a published author. Many of her works were submitted to literary journals & denied publication. However, as she continued to share her works online and gained positive feedback, she remained inspired. This prompted her to push harder. Now that Juanita has become a published author, she says that she has finally accomplished
