Laurell Hall will be our guest Sunday 7pm central. Please come support this mother. May 9, 1994 started off like any ordinary day. Eighteen year old Cleashindra Hall-Clea to her friends and family, left her home for her clerical job with Dr. Larry Amos, a dentist in Pine Bluff, AR. At around 8:00, Clea called her mother to check in. It was the last time Laurell Hall would ever hear from her daughter.

Peace and Blessings dear sistas! Hope all is well. Congratulations on getting Adam Sterling. He's a wonderful brother with a GOOD heart. Ought to be a WONDERFUL show. We've done about 7 shows on Darfur already. It's a VERY serious subject that we wish more of our people would get involved. Check 'em out when you get a chance. Be safe and stay focused. Category: Music

Jeff Timmons began what was originally a low-key solo career after a phenomenal run with the “boy band” 98 Degrees. He was the founding member of the group, and they produced multi-platinum records, 8 top ten singles, and a Grammy nomination. He then released his first solo album, Whisper That Way; the album that gave him Top 20 hits on both the Billboard and Radio & Records charts, while having the lead-off single with the same title as the most added single at radio every week leading up to its peak position. The album also produced 3 more chart-topping singles worldwide. While writing and producing his much awaited second Album, Jeff is also set to launch a new, massive multi-media distribution company called iamMedia. iamMedia will utilize traditional ways of promotion and distribution, and various non-traditional methods to bring brand awareness not only to his album, but a myriad of other artists, genres of music and other mediums of entertainment.

DERRICK ASHONG LIVE ON "PAJAMA POLITICS"

Derrick Ashong founder of TAKE BACK THE MIC and lead vocalist of SOULFEGE will be the featured guest of "PAJAMA POLITICS" on Monday 3rd, 2008 - Monday at 12 Noon Eastern Standard Time  and 9 am Pacific Standard Time.

    About Derrick Ashong

The product of many different cultures, Derrick N. Ashong considers himself a citizen of the world. He was born in Ghana, West Africa but raised in several diverse locations around the world including Accra, Ghana, Brooklyn, New York, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Doha, Qatar. He returned to the U.S. for his last two years of high school in Voorhees, NJ before coming to Cambridge, MA to attend Harvard University.

A natural performer and songwriter, he was involved in theater throughout primary and elementary school while also learning to communicate his thoughts through poetry. He studied clarinet and eventually piano while constantly making up little tunes with his sister for fun. It wasn’t until 10th grade that he started to record both his musical ideas and poetic efforts to create what would be his first ventures into songwriting.

Known in college as both a talented musician and actor, Derrick performed all over campus. He joined the Kuumba Singers and its a cappella subset, Brothers, where he met his future band-mates, Sheldon, James, and Jon. After taking time off from Harvard to perform in Stephen Spielberg’s Amistad, Derrick returned to Harvard to produce, Songs We Can’t Sing; an original and award-winning musical submitted as his senior thesis. It was out of this musical that Black Rose (later to become Soulfège) and the concept for ASAFO Productions was born.

Derrick and co-founder David Brunton decided that it was time for a new direction in the music industry, with ASAFO Productions at its forefront. Derrick continues to build ASAFO Productions while pursuing his PhD in African-American Studies and Ethnomusicology at Harvard University.

    About Take Back the Mic

Take Back the Mic is an international youth cultural movement ignited by critically acclaimed underground Hip-Hop/Afropolitan Fusion band Soulfege. The mission of Take Back the Mic is to harness the power of Hip Hop music to spread a message of youth empowerment and civic action to youth across the United States and around the world.

The tour will take on the negative images of Hip Hop and challenge a generation to speak for itself. Along the way, the band will film a documentary film showcasing the many facets of the campaign: hot concerts, educational workshops, motivational speeches, and street-level civic action, all done with a passionate commitment to the power of the individual to make a positive change in the world. The band members will leverage their charisma, intellect, Hollywood connections and Harvard degrees to make a statement about self-determination that resonates worldwide. Along the way, dignitaries, supporters, and friends will make appearances and contributions to the cause.

As the tour moves across the country, youth around the world will be able to participate on the ground at the events or online at a groundbreaking online community at TakeBackTheMic.com. Everywhere the tour visits and in communities around the world, young people will turn a camera on themselves to perform, speak-out, and Take Back the Mic. Youth participation will be showcased on the website and become the basis of the documentary—“Making the Movement.”

INTERVIEW WITH CHUCK TODD, POLITICAL DIRECTOR FOR NBC AND MSNBC

    February 12, 2008 - Tuesday

Around 12 noon today we are fortunate to have Political Director for MSNBC & NBC Chuck Todd on our show. The interview was very interesting not only that it was organize with very little time given - "off the bat" - as they say.

Chuck Todd is a political analyst and author, and political director and on-air analyst for NBC News.[1] He is an occasional contributor to other news outlets, including MSNBC.com and the Atlantic Monthly.

Until March 12, 2007, Todd was the editor-in-chief of National Journal's The Hotline. As part of his position, Todd also co-hosted, with John Mercurio, the webcast series Hotline TV, consisting of a daily show lasting between 3 and 7 minutes and a weekly show ranging between 20 and 30 minutes.

Todd is a frequent guest on political discussion shows, including Hardball with Chris Matthews. He is also a Professor of Political Communications courses at Johns Hopkins University. Todd is a Miami native[2], who attended the George Washington University.

He is nicknamed "The Wizard" on many internet forums due to his profound insight and ability to quickly do calculations.

    Side note

We were informed about the interview and Mr. Todd's availability about half an hour prior the time he was available. So with little time (almost no time to prepare) we just trusted our guts and information we have on hand on the outcome of the interview.

We believed that Mr. Todd gave us the information that is important for us.

  • Original Air Date:

INTERVIEW WITH NBC POLITICAL ANALYST - CHUCK TODD

Chuck Todd became NBC News’ political director in March 2007. He also serves as NBC News' on-air political analyst for "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams," "Today," "Meet the Press with Tim Russert" and MSNBC, including "Hardball with Chris Matthews."
