Enjoyed your show last week. Unfortunately my silliness of neglecting my health caught up with me and I have been ill for 4 days. So I did not really get involved with the USATALKNET call in show Friday. Thanks for your wonderful show that draws attention to so many issues and allows even the "non - indigenous" to speak out "uncensored". JAHnessa

Enrich your life and that of a needy child on one of our reservations....JOIN SOTY’S CHILD SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM!! There is no charge – it’s free! Too many children on the reservations of North America struggle to live daily with hunger, malnutrition, lack of proper clothing, care or concern for their welfare. It is hard enough being a child in this environment where the majority of families live beneath the poverty level guidelines in this nations.Thousands of children live on reservations where infant mortality and teen death by suicide is at the highest national average. This is a frightening reality for thousands of Native American children growing up without hope for any kind of future. It is hard for those of us who do not live on a reservation to imagine what their lives must be like. For far too many families, there simply is not enough food to go around.Over 80% of families must depend on extremely limited government funds and food commodities to feed their children. The majority of households are lead by single mothers or grandmothers trying to raise more children than they can feed properly. In the winter and on birthdays and holidays too many children lack needed warm clothing such as winter coats and boots. Most don’t receive birthday presents because there simply is no money for such luxuries. What would it be like to live in an environment where having three meals a day is a luxury? Could you imagine that? For far too many – one meal a day is a luxury! YOU CAN CHANGE THE LIFE A CHILD ON ONE OF NORTH AMERICA’S POOREST RESERVATIONS BY BECOMING A SPONSOR – THERE IS NO CHARGE BUT PLENTY OF REWARD! Please contact us at Save Our Tribal Youth (SOTY) to find out how you can sponsor a boy or girl by supplying them with a birthday present, food or clothing. In return, not only will you be supplying much needed assistance, you will have the unique opportunity to develop a cultural friendship of support and concern with a child who desperately needs your care. With this beauty of history in mind filled with heros such as Crazy Horse, Geronimo and many others, we at Save Our Tribal Youth have decided that the best way to honor our history as Native peoples is to bring the stories of our peoples to the tribal children on the reservations. We strive to serve as a conduit through which hope is communicated through speakers and many other methods to restore and heal our people through our culture. Here's to our people, our children and not only to the celebration of our rich history but our present and future through our children. We will strive to stem the tide of hopelessness, drug abuse, alcoholism and suicide with a rejuvenation of the Native American spirit of creativity, joy and life. You must also include your "real" full name, phone number, email address and mailing address. We exchange this information with the parent/guardians of any child being sponsored. The parent/guardian's information will be provided to you by a SOTY representative once both parties agree to work together to benefit the welfare of the child. We then leave it up to the sponsor to reach out to the parent/guardian and initiate contact via phone, email, snail mail or whatever method is indentified by the parent/guardian. The two parties work to determine how the sponsor can best aid the child with needs as simple as a birthday gift or holiday gift(s), or some choose to become even more involved by helping with clothing, school supplies, or other needs as indentified by the child's family. It is up to the sponsor how invovled they wish to become in sending aid/help. We encourage sponsors to send self addressed stamped envelopes to their sponsored child if they wish to receive letters (upon parent/guardian approval)as such items are luxuries for most families on reservations. SOTY does NOT encourage sponsors to expect to meet their sponsored child in person or attempt to do so! Our mission is to aid the tribal youth, and to protect them and their families at the same time. You can still develop a very rewarding relationship/friendship and cultural exchange with your sponsored child through correspondence. We hope you will decide to join our sponsorship program - it's free and very rewarding to all parties.Thank you and please contact us if you have more questions!
