PEAS IN THEIR PODS

PEAS IN THEIR PODS

Did you know that every 40 seconds a child is reported missing in the United States . Of these missing children, 33 percent are African American children. There are astronomical numbers of abused, missing and murdered African American children that fail to get the needed exposure in the media. Very rarely are their precious little faces posted on milk cartons and bulletin boards, or reported on network and cable news shows. Saving Our Children was created in March of 2007 to address this alarming epidemic. Our mission is to make the African world aware of the plight of these children, and to make them a community/national priority. Because we strongly believe that every child’s life is important, regardless of race and socioeconomic status. Please help us spread awareness about this current crisis. Please visit out website (www.savingourchildren.bravehost.com) for more information about the organization, and to observe the slide show of many of the children that are currently missing. Please feel free to contact us at any time at (516) 333-9882. We thank you in advance for your assistance.

    Talking Love

I can remember getting roses from different beaus in my past. It was a sweet gesture. I mean, what girl doesn’t like to get roses?

    This one, that’s who.

Actually, no matter what they gave me—clothes, jewelry, and other pretty things—I was never really as appreciative as they thought I should be—or as I thought I should be for that matter. I know, “Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth,” right? Well, I didn’t. I accepted the gifts, enjoyed them, and was grateful for them. I just didn’t feel as happy as those women do when they get roses on TV.

Pray for Jennifer Hudson & Family!

Words cannot express the deep sadness that penetrated my soul when I read the tragic news about Jennifer Hudson’s family this morning.

Losing anyone close to you is hard enough as it is. But to hear of the shooting deaths of your mom and brother and that your 7-year-old nephew is missing all on the same day is completely unimaginable…unbearable.

    Caring Means Confronting!

    By Bishop E. Earl Jenkins

"An honest answer is a sign of true friendship." Proverbs 24:26 (TEV)

It's much easier to remain silent when others around us are messing up, but it's not the loving thing to do. Most people have no one in their lives that love them enough to tell them the truth, so they continue going the wrong way. Usually we know what needs to be said but fear keeps us from saying it. "An honest answer is the sign of true friendship." Sometimes caring means confronting!

My Cancer Story and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is a very important observance for so many reasons.

For starters, it helps to raise awareness about a very serious disease that has ruined so many lives. I’ve lost women in my family to breast cancer and several other folks to other types of cancer. It’s through awareness programs like this that so many women learn the necessity for and proper way to perform breast self-exams. They also give us hope, information, encouragement, and instructions to help us stay healthy and alive.

Several years ago, after losing both of my maternal grandparents to different types of cancer, I was so scared about what could happen to the rest of us.

    Pastor Appreciation

Grace and Peace to you! And thanks for reading my blog, EVERYDAY REPARTEE!

If you haven’t already heard, let me be the first to tell you that October is National Pastor Appreciation Month (also called National Clergy Appreciation Month).

Pastors are so important to God’s people. They are the ones whom God has chosen to guide us in our spiritual walk. As a shepherd leads his sheep, so does a pastor lead the flock that God has given him:

    Tell Them

    By Bishop Donald Hilliard

"I try to find common ground with him so that he will let me tell him about Christ."
    —1 Cor. 9:22 TLB

Josh McDowell writes "An executive 'head hunter' who goes out and hires corporate executives for other firms once told me, 'When I get an executive I'm trying to hire for someone else, I like to disarm him. I offer him a drink, take my coat off, then my vest, undo my tie, throw up my feet and talk about baseball, football, family, whatever, until he's all relaxed. Then when I think I've got him relaxed I lean over, look him square in the eye and say - what's the purpose in your life?' It's amazing how top executives fall apart on that question.

    Count Your Blessings

With every passing year, I see and experience more of the Lord’s goodness to mankind. Whether we love Him on His terms (meaning that we have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and obey God’s commands) or still live outside of His grace, He still loves and blesses us every day.

For many, that’s a hard message to believe, especially when their circumstances are extremely adverse all the time. But it’s the truth.
