    Sam Bower is the founding Executive Director of greenmuseum.org, an online museum of environmental art, launched in 2001. Prior to this, Sam created environmental art for 8 years as part of a San Francisco Bay Area collaborative art group known as Meadowsweet Dairy. He helped found Cellspace, a non-profit community art space in San Francisco, and Co-Directed Crucible Steel Gallery. Sam has worked as a solo artist, puppeteer, web designer, in advertising, events planning and the environmental non-profit sector in the United States and in Ecuador. He has worked as an independent curator and consultant, has served on the Board and Advisory Board of various art and environment-related nonprofits and art projects. greenmuseum.org is an online museum, a space for the movement of art for the Earth. Its mission is to help people create, present and appreciate art that heals our relationship with the natural world.

    Jill Lessing and Fabled Asp

    Join Femme Fire Radio and Coach Lotus Allen and her guest Jill Lessing of Fabled Asp for another fabulous show this week! Fabled Asp (an acronym for Fabulous/Activist Bay Area Lesbians with Disabilities: A Storytelling Project) is a multi-cultural, multi-racial, multi-media project run by disabled lesbian activists from four generations. Our mission is to preserve, document and celebrate the achievements and contributions of disabled lesbians in the Bay Area over the last 40 years. Our further mission is to empower disabled lesbians to continue the revolution in disability arts, aesthetics, culture and politics. Fabled Asp -– in conjunction with our partners the GLBT Historical Society and The James C. Hormel Gay and Lesbian Center of the SF Public Library -– is promoting 2010 as "The Year of Honoring Lesbians with Disabilities." This project will culminate with an exhibit in the beautiful Skylight Gallery of the San Francisco Public Library Sept. - Nov. 2010 which includes five historic programs. We also have an exciting range of programming coordinated with our community-based colleagues in Berkeley, Oakland, and San Francisco. Jill Lessing has a fine arts background, a practice in psychotherapy in the Bay Area and been a political activist for human rights and social justice including, civil rights, anti-war, feminism, LGBTQ, and disability for 30 years.

    Stephanie Reif is an singer-songwriter, author, and also Executive Producer and Director of "Left Of Oz: Dorothy Comes Out!" She has a passion for life that comes through her voice, her music, and her written word. Her taste in music is eclectic, and includes folk, R&B, Middle Eastern, Salsa, and World Beat. She has sung at venues ranging from the Renaissance Faire to Reggae on The River. And all along, she’s had a special love for musical theater, on stage as well as behind the scenes. Stephanie's current project is her original musical comedy, Left Of Oz, Dorothy Comes Out! which will play at Berkeley's Ashby Stage in July, 2010. In Left of Oz, we follow Dorothy from Kansas to San Francisco to find womanly love. She has various delightful adventures, from erotic to silly. Stephanie feels that, in this all too serious world, we need to laugh, including at ourselves. Left of Oz is guaranteed to lighten the hearts of all who see it.     The Mosaic Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, works towards a peaceful future by reaching children in their formative years. We unite young children of diverse backgrounds, provide them with essential skills to thrive in an increasingly diverse society, and empower them to strive for peace. We create a microcosm of the diverse, inclusive, just world we want to see and show our young students that peace is possible. We seed the future population of middle schools, high schools, and all the venues of adult life with thousands of individuals who have seen a new possibility of what the world can be. Not only are our students inspired to work towards peace, they have been given concrete skills to do so and are empowered to take action. Bio of Cherine Badawi, Curriculum and Training Director, The Mosaic Project Citizen to both Egypt and the USA, Cherine had the privilege of growing up on two sides of the planet. Her area of expertise lies in the development and facilitation of experiential social justice and conflict resolution programs for young people around the world. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Studies from the Univ of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and her Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from Int/l Christian University in Tokyo, Japan. Prior to joining The Mosaic Project, Cherine worked as a journalist for several years in the Middle East and the US. She also wrote the Footprint Handbook to Egypt. Following her stint as a writer, Cherine worked with several non-profits. In 2005, Cherine was awarded the prestigious Rotary World Peace Fellowship. Cherine is delighted and honored to be working with The Mosaic Project in support of this amazing initiative's growth and expansion.
