Food Safety horror story --- Long but worth the READ

I have remained silent for 10 months. NO MORE can my voice be silenced.

What would you do?

How would you feel?

Who would you tell?

Where would you go to make the truth be known?

Allow me to paint you a picture--

    You go to your favorite Fast Food restaurant. A nationally known Fast Food restaurant. A once trusted Fast Food Restaurant.

    You order a hamburger, as you have done many times before.

    You take a bite expecting one thing, however the incredible happens, the unheard of happens, a nightmare begins.

    You bite into a very sharp, very hard, metal barb and shatter your tooth. 

Since reading and watching the information given out on Prop 2, not to mention the beef recall back in February 2008. I see myself staring truth in the eyes. I see I must do something not just for my husband and my family but ALL of you out there who eat in restaurants be it ‘5 star or fast food’

  I have no doubt what my husband bit into on the fateful day. It was either a steel barb from an electric fence or a piece of the steel poker (prodder) the cows are stabbed with to aim them into their direction of death.  I saw back in February 2008 during the beef recall the tip of one of those prodders which looked a lot like the item found in the hamburger. The piece of medal, charcoal almost black in color and nonmagnetic. Extremely sharp and unyielding.

What the foreign object was in that hamburger exactly? I do not know. Some months back I gave the object to our Attorney to send if off to be analyzed. Along with a piece of tooth and a chunk of hamburger.

 Was it analyzed? Put in a drawer? Conveniently misplaced? I do not know as of know as of now.  As I mentioned the item was given to our attorney back in February. I have no received any documentation on the findings.  

The guilt I carry from being the person who purchased & brought home the hamburger for him is more then I care bare at times.

Seeing him losing more teeth, having chest pains, headaches, depression and the list goes on and on. Knowing I can do nothing to help the man I love. Begging a doctor to do a blood work up at the emergency room and having a ‘doctor’ tell me a blood work up is not needed. Yet performs a CAT SCAN? I alone injured him, now day after day my heartbreaks more and more. I ask myself over and over WHY?

This barb could have killed my husband.

 Unfortunately like many Americans we have NO medical insurance and or Dental insurance. Yes, we went to the Emergency room. Along with the pain my husband was in. We took the added burden of stress, fear and anxiety. We also went to a follow up appointment at a neighborhood free clinic; there is no follow up appointments at the hospital when you have no insurance. We sat outside waiting our turn (No appointments are possible at the clinic) our turn was 9 hours later. The doctors help after waiting 9 hours? There was nothing he could do for us.  WE NEEDED A DENTIST.

Yes, our attorney informed us he would find us a dentist. To date that has not happened. Knowing how the medical and dental industries work there is NO doubt in my mind all are unwilling to help unless paid up front. A person’s pain and fear of the unknown is not nearly as important as 'The almighty dollar.' I worked in BIG Corporate America 25+ years I know perfectly well where importance lies. 

If anyone cal hear me or cares. Please write, call or email me. I need to know my options. Not only in regard to this law suit, but telling the public to watch out. Maybe restaurants or any public locations should hang a warning 

If you are uninsured, under insured EAT at your own risk. You choke, break something, and get poisoned. No, OUR problem. Corporate America doesn't give a thin dime about you, your health, your family, or your community.

The world is not the place I once knew. I was born in San Diego CA in 1960. Back when people had integrity, empathy, concern for their fellow man. Where we all lost ourselves I am not sure. I do hope we find each other once again, I’d like my daughter and son to grow up in a world that

GIVES A SH** OR AT THE VERY LEAST PRETENDS TO.

DO KNOW AND BE AWARE OF WHAT YOU ARE EATING. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE, I CAN SAY THAT LOUD ENOUGH. WATCH YOU'RE CHILDREN DOUBLE.
