Who is Lakithia Jones?
Although Lakithia Jones is strikingly beautiful her talents are not to be overlooked. It would only take sixteen bars for anyone to recognize what Lakithia was destined to do.She was born in Milwaukee, WI in the 1980’s. At the tender age of two she was already moon walking to Michael Jackson’s "Beat It," her mother says. By the time she was seven Lakithia was singing solos at her local church. Her family moved away to Lafayette, IN when she was nine. It was then that Lakithia began to sing in churches across the Midwest. Constant church going was the way of life for her family. Lakithia developed a love for singing and performing. At the age of fourteen Lakithia’s family moved back to Milwaukee in order to care for her elderly great aunt and uncle. They moved in the duplex the elderly couple owned in the inner city. Lakithia faced new challenges in her new environment. She was used to suburban life in Indiana and was now surrounded by drug abuse and distribution, crime and teenage pregnancy. Lakithia remembers drug deals going down outside her bedroom window and being awakened by late-night shootouts and sirens. She struggled to adapt to her new school surroundings. It was no longer cheerleading, track meets and basketball games. It was now survival of the fittest. Lakithia had to protect and defend herself against violent jealousy from peers and other perils of the urban community. She memorized protective bible versus and began to shape a new personality through the street anthems of Tupac, Biggie, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z and Scarface. Ms. Jones released her frustrations on paper through poetry, rap lyrics, songs and diary entries. She lived in a bubble not having many friends. Lakithia’s environment and family didn’t necessarily encourage dreaming, but like a rose growing through the concrete, she dreamed. At the age of eighteen she demanded freedom from her over protective parents. She struck out on her own and began to pursue her own security and identity. It wasn’t too long before Lakithia was deceivingly lured into the night life. It was then that Lakithia saw many devastating things and learned a lot about the dark side of life. After a couple of devastating events Lakithia quickly came to her senses and her brief walk on the dark side was over. She began to steer straight and threw herself even deeper into her musical endeavors. Shortly after working with a couple of struggling rap groups, Lakithia was introduced to local producer Eddy J in 1999. Eddy J was very impressed by Lakithia’s talents. They began recording immediately and placed the finished product, "Lakithia Jones aka Miss Angel," (LP) on MP3.com. Though it was her first recording her talent and potential were evident, Eddy J says. They continued to record and finished a second album, which was self titled "Lakithia Jones." The album was sufficiently promoted through local radio airplay, airplay in New Orleans, concerts in local clubs, auditoriums, in northern Illinois, cable TV programming (The Lakithia Jones Show) and PBS’s MPTV. It sold in local stores Discman, Flipside Records and churches in northern Illinois and Atlanta, GA. Everyone was drawn by her rich voice tone and passionate stage show. Lakithia and Eddy continued to hustle with the ultimate goal of a record deal until 2003. In 2003 Lakithia’s ambitions carried her to Los Angeles. Things didn’t go exactly the way Lakithia expected in LA. She found herself faced with challenges again. Lakithia had overcome previous struggles so she was up for the fight. Now facing not knowing how bills would get paid and where each meal would come from, she relentlessly pressed toward her dream. While in LA she found herself on shows like Girlfriends, ER, Gilmore Girls, and Eve. After some time Lakithia was back on her feet and still pursuing her dreams. Everything that Ms. Jones has faced and overcome has only made her stronger and her talents are more honed than ever. She found her nitch. Lakithia’s lyrical ability, delivery and voice tone speak for themselves. She has a relentless tenacity to back her giftings and talents. Lakithia prides herself on individuality. She will stop at nothing to see her dreams come into existence. Lakithia Jones is one opportunity away from superstardom.

ABOUT THE POET
The Authoress better known as Sharon Moten Hicks currently resides in a not-so-small southwest suburban community known as Fresno, Texas. She published her first book in July of 2006 titled “RELEASED.” She is currently working on her second book which is a book of short stories and poetry combined. Sharon is a very multi-talented, unparalleled woman. Her writing is credited to her life experiences. She is the protagonist in most of what she writes. She has different styles of writing, but the one that she’s most partial to is what she calls “Comprehensive Pieces” keeping it plain and simple so that it’s understood by all readers. “Clear Perception” She addresses hush-hush situations with boldness. Her objective is to share her experiences with others and let them know that they are not alone. It’s ok to open up, let go and be RELEASED.
Her creative skills, however, is not limited to just writing.
She is also advanced in fashion design as well as interior design. She loves spending time with her family and her positive friends. She enjoys writing, reading, going to church, sewing, cooking, riding her motorcycle, going to the gun range and listening to various types of music.
Although, she faces new challenges everyday as a single parent, she has no regrets.
Her perseverance to accomplish all of her goals and endeavors has encouraged others around her to pursue their dreams as well.
Her motto: “There’s A Purpose For My Pain.”
