There is currently a large initiative in progress which will greatly enhance military mental health services over the entire deployment cycle. Mental health assets are available both in theater and back home on military bases. The extent of mental health services available on bases varies, some bases having more mental health assets than others. For those who seek assistance on a military base but can not be accommodated, they are referred to a civilian practitioner off of the base.

Do military bases often hire an on-site therapist or psychologist, or do the soldiers need to go elsewhere to find help?
