    Debate over calling for an Article V Constitutional Convention (Con-Con)

    The Constitutional Coalition will be having on two experts to debate whether or not American citizens should encourage their state legislatures to call for an Article V Constitutional Convention (commonly referred to as a Con-Con). Arguing for a Con-Con will be Professor Kevin R.C. Gutzman, who is an expert in the Middle Period of American history, 1760-1877, with additional areas of expertise in American constitutional and Southern history. Professor Gutzman is also the author of Who Killed the Constitution? The Fate of American Liberty from World War I to George W. Bush (co-authored with Thomas E. Woods, Jr.), Virginia's American Revolution: From Dominion to Republic, 1776-1840, and The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Constitution. Arguing against the Con-Con will be John Michael Tomaso, Jr. from stoptheconcon.com. Stoptheconcon.com is a coalition of organizations and individuals throughout Ohio and across the country dedicated to protecting the U.S. Constitution by working to prevent an Article V convention. Their coalition groups include The John Birch Society, Campaign for Liberty, The Constitution Party of Ohio, Liberty Heritage Center, The Institute for Principled Policy and the Ohio Freedom Alliance. Mr. Tomaso is the Executive Director of the Liberty Heritage Center and an expert numismatist. Mr. Tomaso has successfully worked to oppose three separate Article V applications in Ohio (1987, 1995 & 2008). During the 1995 Con Con fight, he and his coalition “flipped” the lead sponsor, a Harvard educated lawyer who remains an ardent Article V opponent to this day.     Georgetown Law Professor Randy Barnett is leading a new effort to call an Amendment V "constitutional convention" but Michael Boldin of the Tenth Amendment Center will explain the inherent dangers of such a proposal. The Tenth Amendment Center The Tenth Amendment Center works to preserve and protect Tenth Amendment freedoms through information and education. The center serves as a forum for the study and exploration of state and individual sovereignty issues, focusing primarily on the decentralization of federal government power. Michael is is a gun-toting, thirty-something technology-inclined city-dweller, who is an avid hiker of the San Gabriel Mountains, and is prone to life in the wilderness. For many years, Michael has been a prolific reader, and spends considerable time daily studying the works of Thomas Paine, Patrick Henry, Murray Rothbard, Ludwig von Mises, and many more. James Jaeger is a Telly Award-winning filmmaker (FIAT EMPIRE) with over 25 years experience writing, directing and editing feature motion pictures, documentaries, TV commercials and multiple-camera live events. As a producer he has experience developing and packaging screenplays, private placements, public offerings and network licensing arrangements. Mr. Jaeger is also a pioneer in broadband distribution of motion pictures over the Internet and a founder of Pay-Per-View.Com. Influenced by his late grandfather, producer of the first medical training films in the United States (and the founder of the Department of Neurosurgery at Jefferson Medical College/Hospital), Mr. Jaeger began his career in entertainment around 1973 with employment at the Valley Forge Music Fair working on such shows as THE CARPENTERS, THE DAVID BRENNER SHOW, THE PEGGY FLEMMING SHOW and THE SONNY & CHER SHOW.
