I grew up with a disability, was educated and employed before there were laws on the books guaranteeing people with disabilities these rights. I grew up in a dyfunctional family where there was physical, emotional, and verbal abuse. I grew up have low self esteem. I turned things around for myself by studying both Mental Health, Psychology, and reading self- help books. Because IDEA became law when I was in graduate school, my teachers didn't understand that CP affects how the brain processes information and that I learn differently. I entered the workforce 12 years before ADA became law and since I couldn't find gainful employment I started my own business. Because of where the economy is now people are where I was 25 years ago. That's what makes me an expert on my topic. I have an AAS in Mental Health, BS in Psychology, credits towards MS in Rehabilitation Counseling. I'm a distributor with InScape Publishing and use their assessment profiles to help clients understand their behavioral styles in communication, working in teams, leadership, listening, learning, time management, diversity, dealing with stress, sales, and managing people, so you can reach your maximum potential in life and learn to Live Without Limits.

We are a product of the home we come from but we are also controlled by our thoughts about ourselves. We can learn to build self confidence through learning tro change our negative thoughts to positive one's through affirmations. The only way I know to demonstrate this is to tell you my personal story of how I turned my personal negatives to positive one's. In Psychodrama you get to create your own script to act out and verbalize thoughts so you can get beyound what is holding you back from succeeding. In Transactional Analysis you write a contract with yourself to turn your negatives into positives and set dates of when you expect to achieve those personal goals. Negative feeling about ourselves sabatoge our finding personal growth and self esteem. There was a book called Scripts People Live where it tells us how to rescript our personal thoughts and affirmations to build our self esteem. When you look at the cultures our ancesters come from and their early experiences, they passed along those traditions to subsequent generations. It's like when a child fears a strom not because of his personal experiences but because a parent feared the storm due to their experiences. The Nature/Nurture theory. As young children we are open and accepting, it is only later after we learn what fear is that we let it take over our lives develop unrealistic fears. The reason this is important because it holds us back from doing the things we love to do or finding success in our professional lives. People who need to listen to this are business owners, coaches, counselors, tharapists, unemployed.

We control our destiny but at the same time we are a product of the home we come from. The Baby Boomers are becoming the senior citizens of today. Many were born in the late 1940's after WWII. This was a very conservative era. At this time people hid away child abuse--physical, emotional, verbal, incest, ECT.It was not until the 1960's that things began to change-drub abuse, music, ECT. There was even a movie made called the 60's. You started seeing more self help books on shelves. You are now seeing the backlash of that era because the news now reports on the issues of today, Drug Abuse was accepted back then, today it's taboo and the Mental Health field and law inforcement have an affect on this. As celbrities write their memoirs you are learning about how the era of the past is influencing today's stories and headlines. Remember our parents had low self estemm and passed along those head trips on to their children, Freud talked about the Id, Ego, & Superego. Carl Jung tied it to science, Berne came up with TA and called it the Child, the Parent, and the Adult. However you call it or refer to it, this all comes back to the family dynamics. Whenever there are hidden secrets and one member breaks the silence to break the addiction there is a breakdown in the family dynamics and you hear about the backlash. Look at the Jacksons, Phillips, ECT. Seek help if you need it but the bottom line is to learn to like yourself. Your parents can be a positive or negative influence on you by the messages they give you. People who need to listen to this are families, therapists, self employed people, and managers.

I use a Personal Profile System as an assessment tool with clients. You can take this profile our online EPIC which also generates reports that can be used to coach clients to change their mindset to a more positive one. There are four classic behavioral patterns used to explain how you communicate in your natural pattern. These patterns are:Dominance: this person is dominant, strong-willed and forcefulInfluence: this person is sociable, talkative, and livelySteadiness: this person is gentle, accommodating, and softheartedConscientiousness: this person is private, analytical, and logical
We all have these behavior patterns within us but some are more dominant than others in our on natural behavior patterns in which we feel most comfortable.
