    OLD SCHOOL AMERICAN: Dreams-Pain-PTSD

This show is about Chronic Pain, Dreams & Nightmares, and PTSD. Are they related or is it in the mind? Questions like this can go on and on, but commonsense tells us a little different. I try to give some key details about these problems. Yes people can have one without the other! You can have nightmares without pain. You can have PTSD without chronic pain. Moreover what if you have all three like myself? Am I being truly objective about my condition or am I being influenced by a friend, family member, medical professional, or doctor to believe they are not connected? Let's dig deep into the subject. Call in and ask about a symbol or object in one of your dreams......How does this relate to you????????Do you remember your dreams?

OLD SCHOOL AMERICAN; Military Trauma & Homelessness

Coach Holly and Big Daddy Frank welcome everyone to our new show format. Today's topic is one dear to our hearts. Everyday all across this nation there are many people suffering to get by day by day. Image if you were physically and mentally wounded and felt left out with no home or job? Where would you go? For most, it would be that place where you would feel the safest, like a family member, friend, church, or organization. Yet, for 1 out 4 homeless in this nation there is no true safe place in their mind lost in a battle field. I will discuss the key stats on this terrible problem for the first 30 minutes of the show. Then as usual my Co-host Coach Holly, guests, and callers can join in on the conversation. Not one of our brave men and women should have to face this problem. It is not only our governments responsibility, it is every citizens responsibility.....

OLD SCHOOL AMERICAN: Show Your Support For The Troops..

Our brave men and women need our help, NOW! Everyday all across this nation, you can read a story about a soldier and or his family suffering because they are getting the help they deserve. Society and our elected officials argue back and fourth about what to do and who is to blame, while many active duty or veterans loose their hope, livelihood, or lives. Big Daddy Franks New Non-profit is called "The Invisible Wounds Association" (TIWA). Our group will support the troops, veterans, police, fire, rescue, and anyone who has experienced trauma. The TIWA will not only lobby for new laws, but we will have active programs to help those in their time of need. I received an email form Nadia McCaffery Gold Star Mother of Sgt Patrick McCaffery, shot 8 times, who was killed inaction on June 22, 2004, Balad, Iraq. Nadia has been doing support work since the tragic death of her son. She started the nation wide trend of Veterans Villages for the military and veterans. In a recent email she tells me of a Veteran by the name of Ramon Vasquez, recently retired veteran of 11yrs. from Army active duty. He served in Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Ramon was retired due to injuries from his time overseas. He is a humble man with a wife and two wonderful daughters. He met his wife, Felicia, in Fort Drum, New York in 2005 and is deeply in love. But since he has been out of the military because of injuries, they struggle to live month to month. The economy and his disability have hurt his ability to earn a decent wage. They are slowly losing everything in their life even with his wife being active Army Reserve for the next six years! We have a line of special guest and a sponsor, Jerry Andrews, who is donating ALL Proceeds from sales of his photos during the show to assist with our cause. He is involved with Koinonia is an Intentional Christian Community in southwest Georgia. http://www.journeyamerica.org/ and http://www.koinoniapartners.org/index.html

    Packages For Soldiers

    http://www.rallycongress.com/drillflorida/1454/packages-soldiers/

Sign the Petition : 4,846 Letters and Emails Sent So Far

We ask you to join us in urging our U.S. Senators and Representatives to support the effort to pass a law that would allow for the free mailing of letters and packages to our military personnel in the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters of operation. Representatives Kathy Castor and Gus Bilirakis have already committed to co-sponsoring a bill that would achieve our goal. They must get the support of the remainder of their colleagues, particularly those in the Senate.

Families and organizations attempting to ship goods to our military have discovered that the cost can be onerous. That should not be a factor in our attempts to make their lives more bearable in the most trying circumstances. Keep in mind that the members of Congress enjoy the right of free mailing, called “franking” privileges. It is only proper that our fighting men and women who are in harm’s way be granted the same rights.

Senator cites study enumerating ills common to Gulf War vets as result of exposure to toxin, drug    by Jake Stump  Daily Mail Capitol Reporter

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Federal officials have been saying for more than a decade that Gulf War syndrome does not exist. Yet mounting evidence from researchers and cries from lawmakers, including Sen. Jay Rockefeller, might indicate otherwise. Last month, a 452-page report conducted by the Boston University School of Public Health found that one in four Gulf War veterans show signs of the disputed illness, which is characterized by chronic fatigue, headaches, muscle pain and other gnawing symptoms. That amounts to about 174,000 veterans afflicted by the syndrome. Rockefeller, D-W.Va., who's stepping down as chairman of the Senate Veterans Committee, told his colleagues earlier this month to review the report and act on it. The senator said it was shameful that neither the Department of Defense nor the Department of Veterans Affairs acknowledge Gulf War syndrome as a real illness.
