Hi! Thanks for reading my blog and leaving a comment - As for McNabb, I think his keister is cooked in Philly and will be released at the end of the season or possibly traded, but he is making 10 miliion plus next year so I don't know if a team will pay him that kinda money to perform the way he's been performing lately and no one wants their "leader" yawning on the sidelines. Yep, the cameras caught him during the Ravens game, yawning . . . As for Chicago, I think they finally feel like they have their guy in Kyle Orton who was playing well before he got injured. If they were smart they wouldn't go back to the constant QB shuffling of the past few seasons. I doubt he ends up there . . .

Felice Herrig Professional MMA Debut at UWC

$0$0Felice Herrig’s fight on this weekend UWC fight car against Iman Achhal this was a fight to remember. Felice, who is fighting her first MMA bout this year and is  2005 and 2006 IKF Woman's Bantamweight North American Champion 2006 W.A.K.O. Woman's Bantamweight National Champion and 2007 W.A.K.O. Woman's Bantamweight National Champion, is certain that she performed what she perceived to be a winning fight. Her current record is 18W 2L 1D with 4 Kos and she is currently on the St. Louis Enforcers team in the World Combat League. Felice also appeared on Fight Girls in 2007 on the Oxygen Channel and won her fight in Thailand against a champion Thai fighter.$0$0I received word from sources yesterday on how the fight proceeded and they stated that in their opinion it was not up to par for most MMA bouts. My source also stated that the fight was not quite, what they expected it to be, informing me that Felice had been told that the fight was to be three-minute rounds and the rounds ended up being five minutes apiece. This was just the beginning of several irregularities within the fight unfortunately.$0$0 My source went on to explain that Felice’s opponent held onto the cage many times and the referee did nothing to stop such actions and did not break up the fight when Felice’s opponent had Felice pinned to the cage but chose instead to do nothing about it. I was also informed that when it was apparent that Felice, to all appearances almost had her opponent in a triangle chokehold the referee stood the fight up, thus ending what would surely have been a winning combination. Does this sound like a hometown referee to you being partial to the ‘hometown’ competitor? In my humble opinion it surely does.$0$0Sources said during the fight Felice closed Iman's eye shut and "Smashed in her face", Sources went on to say that in their opinion, the ref should have stopped the fight right then and there considering the injuries of her opponent, but the fight was continued on.  After the split decision was read the hometown crowd was obvious with their dissatisfaction of this decision, booing loudly the official, ring girls and announcers. Nearly everyone at the fight after this decision was announced was heard to state that Felice was robbed.$0$0So again, how can a Woman's MMA bout be fair if the hometown ref is in the corner with hometown opponent I say? Can anyone from the hometown city where the fight was held answer that question? Of course, I saw an article at Yahoo sports about Felice's opponent about how her life was before the fight and other things, but all emotion aside, what I truly want to know is if the fight was a fair one? Can this be answered? Please if anyone out there that was at the fight please let this reporter know what you thought of the fight.$0$0Thanks,$0$0Sports Geeks$0$0

‘Cyborg’ Signs with Strikeforce; Carano in Talks

Strikeforce stands to inherit the most anticipated female fight of all time.$0$0Cristiane “Cyborg” Santosagreed to a world-exclusive, four-fight deal over the weekend with thepromotion, which landed a multi-year agreement last week to broadcastup to 16 events a year on Showtime, along with an additional four showson CBS.$0$0Santos’ contract was one of 42 fighter agreements the SanJose-based promotion picked up in a limited assets deal with Pro Elitelast week, although the contract was altered “to some extent,” toensure the Chute Boxe fighter became an exclusive commodity forStrikeforce. $0$0As part of the new agreement, Santos will not face Golden Glory’s Marloes Coenen at XMMA 7 “Inferno” on Feb. 27 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.$0$0“Santos will fight on one of our next two cards,” said Mike Afromowitz, Strikeforce’s Director of Communications.$0$0Strikeforce’s next event will be held April 11 at the HP Pavilion inSan Jose, Calif., and will also be broadcast on Showtime. Another showcould follow as early as May.$0$0Santos (6-1) fought two times for Pro Elite in 2008 under itsEliteXC banner. Both were impressive displays of the Brazilian’saggressive striking style and fueled talk that “Cyborg” might walkamong the world’s best. $0$0Gina Carano, who carries an unblemished 7-0 record and anchored two EliteXC“Saturday Night Fights” shows on CBS in 2008 that were watched bymillions, has been named a worthy foil for Santos’ skills. Carano’scontract was also acquired by Strikeforce, although -- like Santos’ --it appears to be undergoing a bit of tweaking too.$0$0“I talked to -- before we did the deal -- the attorneys, andthe attorneys feel we have a strong position to have the contractstransferable,” Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker told the Sherdog RadioNetwork’s “Beatdown” show on Friday. “To me, it’s very simple; therecould be a legal remedy or there could be a business remedy. I’m allabout creating a business remedy.”$0$0Carano could be considered the crowned jewel of the entireEliteXC collection. The “American Gladiators” star appeared in a Pepsiad alongside Bruce Lee during the Super Bowl and has even drawninterest from UFC President Dana White in recent months, who consideredputting her on a WEC card. $0$0“We’ve invited Gina to fight on the first card, but I can’t confirm yet if she’ll be fighting,” said Afromowitz.$0$0Negotiations between Carano’s management and Strikeforce continue thisweek, presumably to bolster the fighter’s pay purse for future bouts.Carano earned only $25,000 for her victory over Kelly Kobold last October, but has garnered attention the world over as “the face of women’s MMA.”$0$0Afromowitz confirmed that Santos, 23, and Carano, 26, would not meet each other on April 11 even if they both join the card.$0$0Strikeforce will also be a family affair for the chiseled Santos. Her husband, Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos, was also signed to the promotion in 2008, but the gritty veteran has yet to fight for them. $0$0“My dream is to fight in the same event and in same night with myhusband Evangelista Cyborg,” said Santos in a statement provided byStrikeforce. “I'm very happy to again fight for the Americans fans.Strikeforce is now number two in the world.”$0$0$0http://sherdog.com/news/news/cyborg-signs-with-strikeforce-carano-in-talks-16130$0$0$0

Showtime announces agreement to televise Strikeforce events

$0$0Premium-based cable network Showtime Networks announced Thursday that it has entered into an agreement to televise mixed martial arts events promoted by the San Jose-based Strikeforce.$0$0“We are very excited to have the opportunity to deliver live Strikeforce events on the Showtime premium television platform,” Strikeforce Founder and CEO Scott Coker is quoted as saying in a joint press release. “Showtime is a forward-thinking innovator with a reputation for producing outstanding original programming in sports and entertainment.  They have been a phenomenal partner in the past and we are looking forward to growing our relationship with them and bringing the Strikeforce brand of MMA to millions of Showtime subscribers.”$0$0“Strikeforce has a history of presenting high-quality, compelling mixed martial arts events and we are thrilled to be able to bring their world-class events to our subscribers,” said Ken Hershman, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Sports and Event Programming for Showtime.$0$0The news comes on the heels of Strikeforce’s formal announcement that it has acquired select assets from ProElite, Inc., the parent company ofEliteXC, which formerly had its events televised on Showtime.$0$0According to the press release, Showtime will televise up to 16 events a year including Strikeforce world championship events as well as a series dedicated to showcasing up-and-coming fighters int he sport.$0$0Today’s release confirmed previous reports that indicated Strikeforce’s first broadcast with Showtime under the terms of the new deal will take place on April 11 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.$0$0While the release states that a fight card will be released at later date,FiveOuncesOfPain.com has confirmed that middleweights Benji Radachand Scott Smith will be in action with former Strikeforce middleweight champion Frank Shamrock and current Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson also expected to compete in separate bouts as well.$0$0April 11 will not be the first time Showtime and Strikeforce have worked together. The two companies were involved in the Frank Shamrock vs.Phil Baroni event that was distributed on Showtime PPV in June of 2007. Additionally, Showtime also televised last March’s Strikeforce middleweight title fight between Shamrock and Cung Le.$0$0While it is expected that CBS will televise Strikeforce events on a quarterly basis, no mention of a deal between the two companies was made in today’s announcement.$0$0fiveouncesofpain$0$0
