As many of you may already be aware, there were some significant technical problems during the live broadcast of our show (Annie & Burl Live!) on Saturday, February 9. These problems were not of the typical “your sound is breaking” genre, but we were actually dropped off of our live broadcast and a moment later a “feed cross” took place that resulted in another BTR broadcast being sent out live to our listeners for approximately 30-45 minutes. The show that our live listeners heard does not in any way reflect the view, opinions, or actions of Annie & Burl Live! or any of our associates. I will not to go into specific details as to what was said on-air, but suffice it to say that the word offensive does not cover the content.
We have been in close contact, as have several other hosts, with personnel at BlogTalkRadio and they are aware of what transpired. I have been assured that they have taken the appropriate actions against the other broadcast that our listeners were subjected to, including removing their archived content. In fact, upon a closer look, the other broadcaster’s account has been completely removed from BTR.
On behalf of everyone involved with our show and also the entire staff at BlogTalkRadio, I want to offer a sincere apology to any of our listeners that were offended by what occurred. Nobody involved condones what went out over the air.
As we all know, BlogTalkRadio is going through some growing pains as they attempt to meet the demand of an ever-increasing listener and broadcaster base. Having said that, I feel that it behooves me to point out that it is physically impossible for BTR personnel to monitor each and every broadcast on the network. However, if they happen into a show with inappropriate content OR if they are alerted to inappropriate content, the BTR staff will look into the situation and take whatever steps are necessary.
This network belongs to all of us. We all work very hard to provide the best possible content for our listeners. Many of us are also working very hard to bring top-name celebrities and public figures to appear on our shows. If you happen across another show that is clearly broadcasting inappropriate material, let the personnel at BTR know about it. Let us all be in agreement that we will not let a few “kids” ruin what we are all working so hard to make a truly extraordinary experience.
