Today we discuss how Salvation is by Grace and not by Works and why Faith without Works is Dead. The works of Mormonism involve many things: Baptism, Receiving the Holy Ghost, Temple work, the Priesthood, Tithing, Church Attendance, Callings and service to others as well as sustaining the leadership of the Church. Many works, they believe, will bring savlation. They do not understand and they do not appreciate what you can teach them about the grace of God. The Grace of God is His decision to bless us, rather than curse us for our sins. GRACE = G - God's, R - Riches, A - At, C - Christ's Expense.
Ephesians 2:8-9: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
2 Samual 12:13 Nathan tells David his sins are forgiven, but the Mormon Scripture Doctrine and Covenants 132:39 contradicts this when it claims David fell from his exaltation. The Biblical Grace for salvation forgives sin, regardless of works; but the Mormon grace requires works for salvation that can be lost by serious wrongdoing.
Galatians 2:21: "I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain."
James 2: Faith without works is dead because the lack of works reveals an unchanged life or a spiritually DEAD heart, a DEAD faith that cannot save. There are many scriptures that make it clear that a true LIVING / SAVING faith will result in a transformed life that produces works.
