The Mormon Church has just said that what their Prophet Brigham Young taught was wrong. LDS.org States:

"The Church Today... Today, the Church disavows the theories advanced in the past that black skin is a sign of divine disfavor or curse, or that it reflects actions in a premortal life; that mixed-race marriages are a sin; or that blacks or people of any other race or ethnicity are inferior in any way to anyone else. Church leaders today unequivocally condemn all racism, past and present, in any form. Footnote Gordon B. Hinckley, “The Need for Greater Kindness,” Ensign or Liahona, May 2006, 58–61

JEREMIAH 23:16: "Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heartand not out of the mouth of the LORD."  See also Jeremiah 23:25-32 and Hebrews 1:1-3

If Brigham Young was wrong about the blacks, I believe he and the other Mormon prophets were also wrong about the teaching that you can become a God.  Throughtout the Bible teaches that He alone is the Creator God and there is no one like Him. See Isaiah 43:10, Isaiah 45:18 and Book of Mormon Alma 11:28-29 and Moroni 8:18.
