The Invisible People (Homelessness)
Many of us have desire to meet the needs of the poor, but do not know how to address their needs. Then there are those who just do not care. The poor are shunned, cast aside, looked down upon because their economic situation does not fit into our social scheme of things. Often we say why they can’t get a job like everyone else, but how can you get a job without a phone or physical address. Many look at them a thieves, criminals, or scam artist when the truth is 8 million people are only 1 paycheck away from being homeless themselves. Does society aid in the creation of homelessness? Are the rising prices and price gouging part of a prejudice against certain populations? Is homelessness racially selective? As a society should we be ashamed?
