Love is an action, choice and a decision, not a feeling. Feelings are rooted in emotion. Emotions can fool a person into thinking that they see something contrary to the truth. Emotions will fluxuate showing no stability, providing no insight into the decisions we make. Love remains stable and strong because, 1Cr 13:4 defines Love, Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
By Love being a choice means you have the choice to do with it what you will. If you choose to keep it for yourself you have not learned the meaning of the word Love. What you have learned is selfishness. Love is not for you, it is for the other person. 1Jo 4:20-21, If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
