Hello All Have you listen lately to the latest BARACK OBAMA Speech at the NAACP 100th Anniversary on July 16, 2009. Since the inauguration of President Barack Obama, many of us have had in conversations that since becoming president things can be possible. The obama's shows us a swagger that is unprecedented. They show us that beauty is so skin deep and that it comes from within. His speech on July 16, 2009 was very inspiring for all of us to realize that we can do it and we must do it for ourselves but also for our legacies who are our children. They are our future so what are we doing to make a difference in there lives? Have you been a positive influence to a youth today? Have you been leading by example? Have you past something forward in your community? What seeds are you planting? Can you answer these questions? I urge you to think about this and see how you can make a difference today in your community. After hearing President Obama Speech some oppose this speech and say that it is not appropriate and that we need more encouragement. Some conveyed that he should have said it those who are not doing right in the community not to those who are middle and upper class individuals. Well, I say KUDOS to him because we need to hear the truth about the direction that we are going as a community. I say even more KUDOS that the middle and upper class needs to hear this because they often forget about where they come from so they need a dose of reality to see that there are others they need to pick up along the way to climb that ladder of success. Sometimes the truth hurts and that is why we are so reluctant and offer excuses as to why it is not possible. President Barack Obama speech give us the notion that we have to reach for the higest of the highest. We have to realize that it is not only about music and sports but rather we have more to offer the world as individuals. We should not be limiting our children to think of becoming the next KOBE BYRANT, LEBRON JAMES, LIL WAYNE, DRAKE , Jay Z,etc. We should be encouraging our children to become LAWYERS, JUDGES, ASTRONAUTS, SCIENTISTS, PRESIDENTS, SENATORS,etc. Please don't get it twisted, if your children has a talent in sports or music continue to encourage them. What I am saying is let's not forget about getting a education so they can understand how to read a contract, music notes, and anything else associated with getting and keeping their money? I beleive we should be looking at what interests our children most in there acadamic areas and moving forward as we do sports and anything else with such enthusiam. Some of our media have depicted an image that it is all about music and sports. They have somehow conform our children and society that if we are going to get out of the hood , then that is the way to go. We have become so facid with images of the television circuit portraying many subliminal messages in there commericals of sports and music that we start to beleive that is the only way to go. How many times have you seen highschool or collegiate players opt to come out early so that they can get that big salary to provide for there families, but necessarily not opt to finish college and have that degree to fall back on. Who is at fault? Is it the parent, coaches, agents, who? Take a look at our televsion outlets such as BET where are they going with our future representation of us. On BET we see the images or lack of shows that are not influential. Instead we see a focus of music that take away from who we are, we see videos that exploit women, and teach our children that it is okay to behave in a such a manner. In our community we should be more of a role model for all children. We need mentors to mentor the mentorees. We need every day people to step up and be proactive. We should be walking with our pants up, hats to front and with our heads high. Ladies we should be showing our young ladies that you can wear a professional suit and still look sexy. We don't need to show bare skin to define who we are. We should be showing our future generation it is okay to go school and it is cool to read books. Reading is very essential to becoming successful. So why is it not a jump off that way that our music is. I will end this by saying be more proactive in our communities. Plant positive seeds, encourage and bring others up the success ladders with you.Remember all things are possible and everyone can make a difference.
