Kirk studied cinema at University of California, Santa Barbara/ transferred to Art Center College of Design, Pasadena where he studied film alongside the likes of Tarsem Singh (The Cell), Michael Bay, Zach Snyder ("300") and Roger Avary (Pulp Fiction). Kirk was at Disney Studios for 5 years and worked on various animated shows as assistant or second editor, but then was the editor for “Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas”. He worked for months alongside world-renowned animator Andreas Deja in crafting the first Computer-generated animation versions of Disney characters: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy. Kirk was also a contributing editor for the animated film “Brother Bear 2” starring Mandy Moore and Patrick Dempsey. Kirk/Supervising editor on the Universal Animation Studios' 2-time Emmy Award-winning children's series for PBS “Curious George" starring William H. Macy. He also was the editor for the DVD release of Universal's “The Adventures of Brer Rabbit”. During the last two seasons of "Curious George", Demorest pioneered methods for working on studio productions remotely. As such, he was featured in a 4-page article in the prestigious "Editors Guild Magazine." In 2003, Demorest won a tie award for his short film, "Since My Last Dance", with legendary director John Woo for "Best Internet Video Premiere", beating out director Tony Scott. Kirk launched a successful video transfer house and has supervised the transfers of jobs for such notable celebrities as Will Smith and Mic Fleetwood, as well as the primary footage for the Slamdance Award-winning documentary "Abel Raises Cain".
