Julie Anne Brame has worked as an artist and a software developer for Dreamworks animation for the last 9 years. Julie has worked as an effects developer on many of the films that have been released by Dreamworks. Julie started working at Dreamworks Animation as soon as she graduated from University of Michigan - Ann Arbor with a computer science degree. She started in research and development creating the software that the artists use for the movies. Initially she worked specifically with editorial, and then moved to the effects department as a technical director (TD) on Sinbad. After Sinbad, she moved into the animation department, again as a TD. But then decided to try her hand as an artist and finished the movie as a lighting artist. After Shark Tale, Julie joined the effects department of R&D and worked on the tools the effects artists use, specifically fur, fluid dynamics, rigid bodies, and MAYA plugins. During her stint in effects R&D, Julie spent much of her free time working on First Flight, a short film a few of the artists at Dreamworks decided to create outside of work. Dreamworks eventually brought the short film in-house and distributed it before Over the Hedge in select theaters. She was credited as CG Supervisor. After developing all of the tools, Julie decided she wanted to again try her hand as an artist, and joined the production effects department. She's stayed in this department working on Over The Hedge, Flushed Away, Bee Movie, Monsters Vs Aliens, and most recently How To Train Your Dragon (releasing in March 2010).
