Kilvert’s twenty plus years in the business and her work on over twenty films has been rewarded with two Oscar nomination for her work on Legends of the Fall, another for her designs for The Last Samurai, both which were directed by Edward Zwick and a nomination for the Art Directors Guild award for her work on Nichols Hytner’s The Crucible. She highlights research as a key element of her work, describing the “holy cow” moment when you discover a key clue or revelation that brings a set to life. “I am not a slave to authenticity, I design to make things feel authentic”.
