During a career spanning three decades, Michael Owens has earned a reputation as one of the film industry’s preeminent visual effects supervisors and has worked alongside some of cinema’s most celebrated filmmakers, including Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, and Oliver Stone. Owens took the reins as Visual Effects Supervisor beginning with The Witches of Eastwick (for which he won a BAFTA Award), and followed it with such films as The Burbs, The Doors, 101 Dalmatians and Meet Joe Black. Owens has worked with Martin Scorsese as Visual Effects Supervisor for two films: Bringing Out the Dead (also Additional Unit Director) and Gangs of New York (for which he was nominated for a BAFTA Award). Other credits include Men in Black II (as ILM 2nd Unit Director), The Hunted, 101 Dalmatians (also Additional Unit Director) and Tropic Thunder. Owens has enjoyed a long professional association with Clint Eastwood, first serving as the director’s VFX Supervisor on Space Cowboys on which he not only created the visual effects but was entrusted to design the space sequences. This film was followed up with Clint’s Bloodwork. Following Owens exit from ILM, he continued collaborating with Eastwood on such notable films as Flags of our Fathers (for which he won a VES Award and also served as 2nd Unit Director), Letters from Iwo Jima (also 2nd Unit Director), The Changeling (for which he won a VES Award), Gran Torino and Invictus (for which he was nominated for a VES Award). Currently Owens is in post-production on Eastwood’s latest film, Hereafter. You can email your questions to 123FilmEasy@Gmail.com and we'll answer them "LIVE ON AIR." Link: www.123FilmEasy.com.
