I don't know about having too many cats, but I will agree with you that stamps seem to me the most amazing and overlooked of all modern art forms. God bless you in your search for living in the spirit of The Lord. Alsso, my many thanks in your pointing out men who have given their all in many cases in the service of our country. Governmnets and political parties do not serve under arms or share defensive positions with other soldiers, men do. Real men who bleed and die, and not for a flag in most cases, but for those guys they are sharing the foxhole with. This country should stop in its tracks and give their complete attention every time a soldier is awarded a medal for defense of this country. May God watch over and guide our hands in this endeavor, as our cause is just-Scout, The Rifleman Show

    I live in New Jersey....the home of  WAY to much rain. We Americans face an average 10,ooo thunderstorms,2,500 floods, 6 hurricanes, and 1,ooo tornadoes according to the National Weather Service..

    So this week if you have a Beautiful blue sky to look up to
     be thankful for it,
    and be THANKFUL you have a home, even if the paint is peeling, and the rug needs to be clean, because you see...some people don't have a roof over their head.
    New Jersey has among its homeless population an estimated 7,000 to 8,000 veterans of the United States Armed Forces. Our nation and our State, grateful for its hard won freedom and democracy, owes a special debt to veterans. That there are so many falling through the gaps in our society is a call to action. We must restore dignity and purpose to those who so unselfishly laid their lives on the line for our country.
    The military teaches us to retrieve our wounded and bring them home.That is not just a thing to get around to after we do everything else it is our duty.

    Today is a new week. The beginning of a New Month.

    This is a Great time to take a look around and be thankful for what we have, even if it is just a simple meal, a purr of your cat, and your lungs with which to take another breath of air.

    People are talking about change but no one leader is going to make that change...we need to make the difference in the lives of each other. We need to rise up like eagles, and run when we are tired, keep going.

    We need to pray that God Blesses America, and all of the other places that he has made.

    As I said in my other blog. I died. The doctors like to call it a Near Death
    Experience....but when you touch death you learn something -- life is short and so wonderful we need to embrace every single moment of it.

    I was a policeman at the time -- after I had left the military.
    I went in a burning building....I think back to that day. I had no idea then that it would be a day that I would die.

    Uncertainty in life should always cause us to pause, and revere the
    God, the Creator, of our life and times.
    That is what my book is about, second chances. The Lord gave me one  ...and I am going to use the rest of my life to laugh and love as much as I can.
    I hope the best for all of you.

    WE are a fierce force -- the unseen Army of the DAV...the Disabled American Veterans.
    A league of men and women that can make change!
    Vets can be a great force even for themselves....You have not because you ask not....
    So all of us need to love our veterans, and that means more then just tying a ribbon, it means helping their wives, playing ball with their kids, writing a letter, and dropping on your knees and thanking God that they were and are there to protect.

    Yes, our troops need to come home but while theses brave women and men are in Iraq and in many other places in the World we need to keep our eyes on our leaders to make sure that they have the equipment, to take care of themselves and income to send home and take care of their families.

    As Americans we must support the men and women involved in the War on Terrorism. The "mainstream media" are once again working tirelessly to undermine their efforts and force a psychological loss or stalemate for the United States. We cannot stand by and let the media do to today's warriors what they did to us 35 years ago.


    Below are some assembled some facts most readers will find interesting. It isn't a long read, but it will....I guarantee....it will teach you some things you did not know about the Vietnam War and those who served, fought, or died there. Please share it with those with whom you communicate.


    Vietnam War Facts:

    9,087,000 military personnel served on active duty during the official Vietnam era from August 5, 1964 to May 7, 1975.

    2,709,918 Americans served in uniform in Vietnam

    Vietnam Veterans represented 9.7% of their generation.

    240 men were awarded the Medal of Honor during the Vietnam War

    The first man to die in Vietnam was James Davis, in 1958. He was with the 509th Radio Research Station. Davis Station in Saigon was named for him.

    58,148 were killed in Vietnam

    75,000 were severely disabled

    23,214 were 100% disabled

    5,283 lost limbs

    1,081 sustained multiple amputations

    Of those killed, 61% were younger than 21

    11,465 of those killed were younger than 20 years old

    Of those killed, 17,539 were married

    Average age of men killed: 23.1 years

    Five men killed in Vietnam were only 16 years old.

    The oldest man killed was 62 years old.

    As of January 15, 2,007, there are 1,875 Americans still unaccounted for from the Vietnam War

    97% of Vietnam Veterans were honorably discharged

    91% of Vietnam Veterans say they are glad they served

    74% say they would serve again, even knowing the outcome

    Vietnam veterans have a lower unemployment rate than the same non-vet age groups.

    Vietnam veterans' personal income exceeds that of our non-veteran age group by more than 18 percent.

    87% of Americans hold Vietnam Veterans in high esteem.

    There is no difference in drug usage between Vietnam Veterans and non-Vietnam Veterans of the same age group

    Vietnam Veterans are less likely to be in prison -- only one-half of one percent of Vietnam Veterans have been jailed for crimes.

    85% of Vietnam Veterans made successful transitions to civilian life.

    I see my America weathering storms, my people begging on the streets, my neighbors children afraid to go to school because of drug use on the playground. I believe each of us must not only think about making a difference ...we must do so.

    I get lost in a great poem, a good meal, and the laughter of friends.

    I know that God is real. I still sweat the small stuff but I also understand in the end most of what we think is important is not.
